Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 saw multiplayer fans getting tons of content, with three new 6v6 maps accompanying new game modes and a fresh Fireteam region. For Zombies fans, though, Season 3 was lacking. Outside of the same Fireteam region coming to Outbreak, a new Field Upgrade, and some fresh intel, the Zombies content was basically nonexistent. The only real highlights were the addition of Fishing to Outbreak and the mode’s first main quest in Season 3 Reloaded, both of which were unappealing to those who only like the Survival mode.

However, while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 was a letdown for veteran Zombies players, Season 4 will be anything but. While Outbreak fans will be seeing new content in the form of another easter egg, Survival players will finally be getting access to a brand-new map. With the premise of the map discovered through intel, and the exact location seemingly known, it is shaping up to be a major fan-pleaser. On top of this, new intel will be coming alongside a fan favorite perk and a major balancing pass. With smaller additions possible, too, Zombies fans have a lot to look forward to once Season 3 comes to a close.

What To Expect From Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Season 4 Survival Map

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s next Survival map has officially been confirmed for Season 4, though Treyarch has not yet shared a specific date. As such, it could come as soon as the Season launches, a few weeks later, or in the midseason update. Given how Treyarch’s recent Zombies blog post talked about how a Season’s content does not come all at once, and how lead writer Craig Houston said it will “probably” come in Season 4, fans should expect it to launch closer to Season 4 Reloaded.

The Survival map will supposedly be set in Berlin, building off an image on Weaver’s monitor from the Die Maschine intro cutscene. Further, Samantha calls Weaver from the German city, further establishing its importance. A leak before Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched also suggested that Kino Der Toten would be worked into this Berlin map. While it is unlikely that the entire theater will feature, gamers may spawn on the stage or in the lobby. They could also explore things that were blocked away in the original Kino Der Toten, like the theater’s catwalk or the Sky Needle outside the map. The Berlin Wall also seems like a no brainer, though these areas are still only rumored.

The story of the map is a bit more concrete, however, as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s intel highlights a few big plot points that could be explored. First, the Nazi army spotted by Zykov was confirmed to be gathering, with the zombified Germans planning to make a return in “the worst possible place.” This comment further adds to the theory that a Berlin map is next, with proper Nazi Zombies being fought inside it. Next, Zykov has officially been Zombified, with the Stranger transformed by the Dark Aether. In turn, he may be encountered in the Berlin map. Finally, Edward Richtofen’s uncertain fate will likely be addressed, as Samantha and Weaver have been talking a lot about “the boy” in recent audio logs.

What To Expect From Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Season 4 Outbreak Quest

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first Outbreak quest may have just come out, but Treyarch has already announced that the quest is a two-parter. The second half is arriving at the start of Season 4, and its launch time will likely depend on the Berlin map’s release. If Berlin comes at the start of the Season, the Outbreak quest will likely launch in Season 4 Reloaded. If Berlin comes later, that Outbreak’s second easter egg will likely make its debut closer to the start of Season 4.

Regardless of when the easter egg comes, players can expect good things based on the first. Outbreak’s original main quest was a good sign for the mode, as it showed that Treyarch was taking steps to Zombify the Fireteam maps. As such, a similar format could be seen with the next quest. The first half will likely be a scavenger hunt, with gamers able to make progress in any Outbreak region. In the second half, gamers will likely head to an entirely new spot, with something like Ruka’s missile silos seen. With the silos being the highlight of the quest, seeing another Zombies-exclusive Outbreak location would be terrific.

Outbreak fans can expect another challenging boss fight, with the timed encounter style of the Legion fight possibly returning. This made the main quest the hardest in the game by far, but it also required a level of coordination that was previously unseen in Zombies main quests. With this in mind, another tough fight can be expected, as it made completion of the first quest extremely rewarding. Building off Zykov’s transformation, the character could even be the boss of this quest, with gamers also needing to fend off his powerful Hellhound Cinder. With Call of Duty Zombies fans responding positively to the first Outbreak quest, a similar format can anticipated for the second.

What To Expect From The Rest Of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Season 4 Zombies Content

Given the release of Tombstone with Firebase Z, gamers can expect another Zombies perk to be added alongside the Berlin map. Based on the leak that happened right after the game released, Mule Kick, PhD Flopper, and Double Tap are expected to come to the game. As such the new perk would come from this lineup, and while any is possible, Double Tap seems the most likely. With a Double Tap poster seen in the Season 3 multiplayer map Diesel, it seems like Treyarch is hyping up its return. With this being the strongest of the three perks, its return would be welcomed with open arms.

A new Ammo Mod is also a legitimate possibility, seeing as another Field Upgrade arrived at the start of Season 3. While yet another Field Upgrade could come, it would make more sense if an Ammo Mod came first to help balance these upgrades out. A new Outbreak region is also possible, and given the locations from the Ural Mountains map leak, seeing Zoo added to the game next seems like a safe bet. If Zoo or another region does come at the start of Season 4, then it will likely play a big part in Outbreak’s second main quest easter egg.

More Zombies intel is all but confirmed, with the documents, artifacts and recordings being Treyarch’s main way to further the story. Minor improvements to Outbreak like new trials, vehicles, and side activities is also a possibility. Lastly, a Zombies balancing pass has been officially confirmed, with Treyarch planning to lower the health of the undead in high rounds. Sniper Rifles and melee weapons will also be getting a buff, and the balance changes will launch with Season 4’s Survival map. With so much new content coming to Call of Duty Zombies this Season, the community could be revitalized going into Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s final Seasons. If Seasons 5 and 6 add just as much Zombies content, Season 3 will go down as the only weak point for this iteration of the co-op mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
