Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has only just recently launched its official League Play. While many fans were excited at the opportunity for a ranked mode, fan reception has been negative as the new option has several problems. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans are once again are split over the new content and their expectations.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was buggy at launch, since then, it has improved through developer efforts. Fans are slowly growing accustomed to the new game experience, but the game was still lacking a ranked game mode. Now, Call of Duty: Warzone fans have had their first taste of League Play in 2021, and they do not like it.

In Call of Duty, the ranked and competitive game modes are designed to give a similar experience to the CDL matches. With the game having unrestrictive and outdated rules, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War community is calling the launch a disaster. From ruleset issues to the ranking system not making sense, players are quickly bringing to light issues regarding the new game mode. While professional players often follow a "Gentlemen's Agreement," the game mode does not enforce these rules resulting in a very different experience than the pros are dealing with.

Jammers, unlimited smoke screens, standard streak systems, and rampant hackers are among the many complaints of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War community. After three months of waiting, a majority of the community is not happy with the result. In short, league play at launch was not a great experience.

After fan pressure started to build,  Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's developers decided to update League Play restrictions and target a wide variety of items. While a majority of the list was sourced from fan complaints, many wonder if this step was even necessary. The update is clear evidence that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is still listening to fans, but the community wonders why the developers couldn't get it right the first time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is still in its early stages, and fans are going to have to accept some limitations from the development team. While the game is constantly improving, Treyarch can only focus on so many problems at once. While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's League Play is closer to competitive than ever, this blunder is sure to not be forgotten by fans any time soon.
