A new map was revealed for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta that takes players to the jungles of Nicaragua. The multiplayer map centered around a remote compound and swampy woodlands, and as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players entered it, they quickly noticed one feature worth debating: the foliage.

This is not the first time that map foliage has come into question. From tree placement in Modern Warfare to the claymore bush strategy in the original Call of Duty Black Ops game, the terrain is a valuable ally. In the new Black Ops Cold War map Cartel, players are discussing the use of terrain,  with a debate starting surrounding the game's bushes.

The middle of the map contains a particular set of bushes that are perfect for ambushes and sneaking. Visibility is low, so players tend to hide among the plants and fire at anyone who travels down the middle map. The issue for many is that the bushes are not solid objects. This allows players to crawl inside of them, gaining total concealment. While some fans are enjoying the stealth-based maneuver, others say it is unfair and against the spirit of the game.

Some Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta players argue that the bush problem is dependant upon the game mode itself. While team deathmatch is barely affected, as hiding in a bush is the equivalent of camping one spot, Domination sees a larger problem. The Domination game mode has a control point located fairly close to the bushes. This turns a battle for the point into a control match for whoever can lock down Cartel's bushes.

At its core, players are worried that the map's bushes are providing too much concealment and hiding players too easily. The fix is simple, cut back on the leaves and detail of the foliage giving it a more open and wider view. As long as a player can be seen many members of the community would call the bush strategy fair.

Still, some Black Ops Cold War players argue that the bushes are fine as they are. Due to a push for a more realistic combat, the bushes offer a minor advantage to Cold War's stealth-based playstyles, which can be easily countered using explosives or similar tactics. Rather than changing the game, many players are pushing to simply change their own tactics and adapt to the new threat.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
