Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Alpha was took place over the weekend, with players occupying the servers at all hours of the day. Although the Alpha build of the game is not the final build, the developer has shown what fans can expect from Black Ops Cold War's final release.

One feature that fans have been discussing is the possibility of the Prestige system returning to Call of Duty. For a long time, this system was a badge of skill for the player community, but fans have not seen it implemented since the release of Black Ops 4. As one fan spent a long time with the alpha, he noticed something change on his profile after hours of playing, bringing hope that the Prestige system could return.

In Black Ops Cold War's Alpha, the player rank will not exceed Rank 1. While this is true, many players did notice that as they continued to play the symbol would change without awarding additional ranks. After Twitter user DooM Reid spent hours playing the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alpha, he posted a screenshot of his progress showing the icon and label of Prestige 1. Although not an official rank, the symbol does match that of the Black Ops 4 Prestige symbol. Still, it could easily be a place holder for a future rank or maybe a fake photo, so take it with a major grain of salt.

The content creator and YouTuber GamingRevolution did create a video in an attempt to try and explain how the image could be possible. Quoting a press release from Treyarch, he does point out that the developers have a ranking system in mind, and intend on releasing further details closer to Cold War's release.

While many fans hope that the Prestige system will return, there is a large segment of the community that believes something better is on its way. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has so far innovated newer versions of Call of Duty standard features and it would not shock the community to see a new and improved ranking system that builds upon the foundations of Prestige.

While nothing can be confirmed this early on, the Prestige icon does give members of the game's community hope that a similar system may be implemented. Still, any ranking system is better then none in other fan's minds as the action of the game itself outshines any momentary status or symbol.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
