Advanced Warfare Map List

It's strange to say that Call of Duty leaks are almost like clockwork, but here we are watching as a flood of information starts hitting the Net. And that's nearly two weeks before the game hits store shelves.

So far, though, it's hard to parse out what is and what isn't legitimate. Some leakers claim the Advanced Warfare campaign takes only 5 hours to complete, while others question the validity of those claims. It's not unreasonable for a Call of Duty game to have a short campaign – most typically take about 8 hours to get through – but that seems significantly shorter than past games.

One leak that appears to be the most legitimate of the bunch has to do with the game's multiplayer maps. While we don't have any closer looks at Advanced Warfare's selection, we do have a full list of names. And they are:

  • Ascend
  • Bio Lab
  • Comeback
  • Defender
  • Detroit
  • Greenband
  • Horizon
  • Instinct
  • Recovery
  • Retreat
  • Riot
  • Solar
  • Terrace

The list also includes a screenshot seemingly from the Advanced Warfare menu, which further boosts its legitimacy. We can also see that those map names Sledgehammer Games has previously revealed, among them Defender, Riot, Bio Lab, and Horizon, are also in the bunch.

There is also an entry on the list for 'Bonus Maps,' which would presumably be for DLC maps. Yes, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is not breaking with tradition, but will in fact include copious amounts of DLC.

In total, a 13-map selection sounds varied enough that Call of Duty fans will keep plenty busy on the multiplayer battlefields this November. It will also be somewhat of a learning experience for players, as they try to adapt to Advanced Warfare's new weapons and Exo Suit abilities. Trailers for Advanced Warfare, along with behind the scenes looks at the multiplayer, have suggested that these abilities could bring some big changes to the Call of Duty experience, but we won't know for sure until the game release.

We also won't know which of the rumored details are true until the game hits either. Activision has a lot riding on the release of Advanced Warfare, their first true next-gen COD title, both in terms of sales and the franchise's future.

What do you think of the map names for Advanced Warfare? Which sounds the most intriguing to you?

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare releases November 4, 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
