Dragon Ball is no stranger to internet trends, from the early days of anime music videos to "It's over 9000" memes, but a recent Twitter trend takes the cake for bringing the series in a bizarre new direction.

It started with a BuzzFeed video that went viral by Tasty of everyday items like soap, toilet paper, and bananas being cut in half revealing their true identity as delicious cakes. Once the tweet went viral, the internet did what it does best and morphed the concept into a trend taking over Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. Food is so prevalent in the anime's many iterations that even games like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot have cooking elements to find, make, and eat food to improve your character.

Now Twitter users are showing what type of cake they believe each character would be if cut in half. Normally a character from the anime and games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 would power up in some extraordinary fashion to show their true strength, but this delicious take reveals that its what's on the inside that counts. From Goku's carrot cake insides to Frieza's delicious vanilla center Twitter has shown that even the most vile characters in the anime are sweet on the inside.

Dragon Ball and food are kindred spirits, many of the series colorful cast of characters are named after food and any Super Saiyan fan knows of their insatiable hunger.  While fans wait for news on more new Dragon Ball Z games to feast on, this Twitter trend will have to be enough of an appetizer.
