Reacting to the trailer from Bungie showing off its new game Marathon, Dr Disrespect has shined a light on the extraction shooter with some positive comments. Not a stranger to the genre, Dr Disrespect is often playing the latest FPS titles as he develops his own game with Midnight Society, and fans may one day see him play the rebooted Marathon series from Bungie on stream.

Among the developers announcing new games coming out in the future during the PlayStation games showcase was Bungie who revealed a return to one of its earliest intellectual properties. With little to go on from the trailer, Bungie has confirmed that the new Marathon is an extraction shooter. Dr Disrespect viewed the PlayStation showcase teaser trailer from Bungie to provide his expert perspective.

After playing several Apex Legends trios matches during a May 24 YouTube broadcast, Dr Disrespect pulled up trailers from the recent PlayStation games showcase, including the Marathon one. Pointing to the lack of gameplay and vague information from Bungie about Marathon, Dr Disrespect complimented the studio for listing merchandise for the game just in time for the debut of the game's trailer. Not saying much during the Marathon trailer beyond "hold on now" and "let me see it," Dr Disrespect then pulled up the statement from Bungie detailing what players can expect, and Dr Disrespect praised it by saying, "we need large-scale multiplayer games."

Dr Disrespect has hinted at some aspects of the Midnight Society's Deadrop, which is also an extraction shooter. Remaining mostly skeptical of Marathon other than noting some "opportunities," Dr Disrespect confirmed that he's looking for triple-A multiplayer experiences and hinted that Marathon could be a contender. With some experience in the Halo franchise, Bungie hasn't eluded Dr Disrespect throughout his career, but the two-time champion barely ever delved into Destiny 2 on his channel which may bode well for Marathon's player count if he decides to stream the extraction shooter.

There have been several occasions in which Dr Disrespect has mentioned on livestreams how stale multiplayer gaming is getting in his opinion, and it's one of the reasons he started developing a game with Midnight Society and may be inspired to try Marathon. Although it's currently unclear when Marathon will release, it's the first title from Bungie since being acquired by Sony which may suggest that it has significant support backing its development.

Marathon is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
