Tuesday, July 17 is going to be a pretty big day for fans of Destiny 2 as not only is it the weekly reset and final Faction Rally of season 3, but it also marks the arrival of Update 1.2.3. The highly teased and anticipated holds a lot of interesting enhancements and fixes to the current state of Destiny 2 including the return of 6v6 Crucible matches to the Quickplay playlist, adjustments to Heroic strike modifiers, as well as Escalation Protocol reward buffs. Not only that, the bounty system from the previous game is finally making its long-awaited debut.

In this week's Bungie blog post, Destiny 2 Senior Design Lead Tyson Green reveals that the daily bounty system is finally coming back after a few tweaks from the old system. Following Tuesday's update, players will be able to pick up bounties from many different vendors and can be redeemed immediately once the requirement has been fulfilled. Rewards range from XP and faction reputation while some will even offer better rewards. Interestingly enough, bounties will cost some glimmer to obtain and expire after a period of time in an effort to prevent players from cluttering their inventory by blindly grabbing every available bounty to sort them out later.

While bounties were a popular element to the last game, the developers at Bungie believed they had become an unnecessary chore that players felt compelled to do every day. As such, the team decided to remove them completely from Destiny 2 to help streamline the activity experience and put the focus on new content like Adventures and Lost Sectors.

Tyson Green admitted that in retrospect, the team took it too far which is why they're bringing back optional daily objectives to achieve specific goals. Green also teases additional enhancements to this system once Forsaken arrives in September, which is likely tied to hunting down unique creatures in the world.

In addition to bounties, exotic items appear to be a major focus of Update 1.2.3. as well. Earlier this week, players learned more about exotic weapon catalysts coming inside of the update including how to unlock one for the hand cannon Sturm. Bungie has also previously revealed information about how it plans to rework and buff a lot of exotic armor pieces that are generally viewed as weak by the community. Items like the Lucky Raspberry Hunter armor, Dunemarchers Titan boots, and Warlock Starfire Protocol armor to name a few.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
