Destiny 2 offers many different game modes for players to engage with, and among the most game-defining, there are Raids and Trials of Osiris, which are considered the endgame for PvE and PvP, respectively. While Raids have always had their dedicated place within Destiny 2, it was not always the case for the Trials of Osiris, which even changed their name from Trials of the Nine and underwent substantial changes. This is perhaps inevitable when it comes to the pinnacle of competitive PvP in any game, and many fine-tuning patches are often needed to bring the company's vision together.

In this specific case, the Trails of Osiris were reworked a lot, possibly even more than any other mode in Destiny 2. Three weeks ago, Bungie launched its final reworked version of the Trials, which was an anticipated event because of the company's partnership with BattlEye and the changes to the reward system. The first weekend did extremely well and set a new record for Bungie's shooter across both the first and the second installment, but the second weekend was less successful, likely due to Destiny 2's changes to matchmaking in Trials of Osiris.

As customary every Thursday, Bungie released its latest weekly blog post yesterday, and it outlines a lot of upcoming changes to the Trials of Osiris and what the company is monitoring in order to further improve them. For starters, this third weekend will be an experimental one where Bungie will introduce a new variant to Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris, which is still an Elimination game with the twist of a capture zone spawning after 30 seconds. Capturing the zone will have the same effect as killing all opponents, allowing players to win the round.

According to Bungie, the matchmaking changes in week 2 were successful in terms of blowout rate for solo players, but they also meant some players reset their cards at 5-0 or 6-0 instead of going Flawless. The percentage of total matches was lower than week 1, and this decreased even further for Flawless players after 7 wins. Thus, in week 3, Bungie aims at introducing the Flawless pool on Sunday rather than on Friday, and the company also revealed more changes are expected in October.

Additionally, players will no longer have their special ammo replenished when resurrected, and other changes are being made to Saint-14's inventory and Masterwork weapons coming from Rank Rewards. This week Destiny 2 was in the top 3 of Steam's charts in terms of most played games, and the hope is that continuous changes and improvements to Trials will keep it that way.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
