Bungie revealed the latest Destiny 2 collaboration, but their new partner is not what some players expected. Bungie often teams up with other franchises to offer additional content for Destiny 2 players, whether through collaborations or crossovers, but this upcoming one doesn’t seem to convince players.

Over the past year, Bungie has been expanding the universe of Destiny 2 with crossovers with other popular games. In August 2022, the Destiny 2 x Fortnite collaboration made Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey, and Exo Stranger appear in Epic Games’ battle royale. The latest Destiny 2 crossover dates back to September 2022 and saw skins based on the Hunter, Warlock, and Titan from Destiny 2 appear in Fall Guys. Destiny 2's Season of the Seraph brought various items inspired by Assassin's Creed in Bungie’s FPS, with several ornaments players could get for free.

In a new video published on Weibo, Bungie announced that several Destiny 2 elements will appear in Arknights, a free-to-play tower defense mobile game. This collaboration will bring Destiny skins in Arknights through a story collection event, but no additional details were announced to this date. While Arknights is popular in South-East Asia, mainly in China and Taiwan, it remains fairly unknown to Western players who seem disappointed to have a new Destiny 2 crossover with a game they never heard of. Fans of Arknights received the news more joyfully, as they will soon have access to Destiny 2 skins within their favorite mobile game.

Western Destiny 2 players were puzzled by this announcement, hoping Bungie would announce a collaboration with another major franchise such as Warframe or Borderlands. Even Arknights players seemed surprised by this crossover, wondering how Destiny skins will fit in this popular gacha game. Arknights previously featured outfits from other popular games, such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Legend of Luo Xiaohei, and Monster Hunter, offering players new sets of tactical armor that look like iconic characters from these franchises.

While this collaboration won’t impact Destiny 2 players, they can still look forward to new elements coming soon to Bungie’s FPS. The Season of Defiance is coming to an end, with the Season of the Deep going live soon after. Bungie is letting Destiny 2 players decide which one of three exotic weapons will be getting a new ornament through a community vote, while players criticize the developer for their lack of communication regarding the most recent patch notes.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
