Even though Halo: Reach is still very much relevant, Bungie has been hard at work developing their next IP.

Since the Halo franchise is no longer in their control, and they've made a ten-year deal with Activision to develop a brand new IP, they'll need to create something big to keep themselves as relevant as Halo. In order to do so, they are calling upon loyal fans to help them as beta testers.

Here's the official announcement from the Bungie blog:

Making great games is no small endeavor. Today we ask you, our community, to officially put your name on the list of those willing to lend a helping hand. Service requires only a Bungie.net account and a valid email address. In exchange, we’re offering you the unique opportunity to help us continue making improvements to our playlists, features, and online community…and the potential to help us shape our glorious future.

Not all who enlist will be selected. But hundreds of thousands of gamers will likely be needed before all is said and done. March with us, and together, we will bask in the glory of World Domination.

Bungie explains that the help they may request will range from playtests and usability testing, surveys on gameplay habits, as well as alpha and beta testing for their next release.

In order to be considered for beta testing, you must have a Bungie.net account and have the "Updates on how to become a Bungie Beta Tester" box checked in your profile settings.

Even though there is no compensation, it seems like an interesting opportunity. Since Bungie's fame is all thanks to their work on the Halo franchise, it could be a great experience to help with their brand new game and get a taste of its potential. Fans of the developer are waiting with baited breath to see what they have in store and it would surely be rewarding for a fan who gets to lend a hand.

Are you planning on signing up to be a Bungie beta tester? What are your hopes and predictions for Bungie's next game? Sound off in the comments!
