The past year has been a big one for Rockstar Games fans, as it saw three classic Grand Theft Auto games remastered. Alongside the classics, rumors of Grand Theft Auto 6 and a Bully 2 have also been spreading, something that no gamer can ignore. Rockstar has also announced that GTA 5 will be released on PlayStation 5 within the next few months.

Despite the already over-hyped energy revolving around Rockstar at the moment, or maybe because of it, speculations of other classic games getting a remaster are beginning to surface. Such remasters have been discussed for Red Dead Redemption 1, which is a fan favorite with a dedicated player base who would love to see the old map revamped. One of the latest rumours circulating the internet currently, backed by little concrete evidence, is that Rockstar might be revisiting its open-world game Bully. An alternative rumor is that a Bully 2 is in development, rather than just a remaster of the original.

The Latest Bully 2 Rumors

Bully 2 History Rockstar

Although there was already talk of games getting remastered or having their sequels released, rumors about Bully were triggered by a potential teaser put forth by Rockstar at the end of this month. Back in 2005, while Bully was in secret development, Rockstar decided to leak news of the upcoming game via the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Before that, the game giant decided to alter the logo on the Rockstar website, foreshadowing Bully’s release. The updated logo resembled the famous crest from Bullworth Academy. Within the last few weeks, a similar logo has appeared on the Rockstar website, replacing the old one. Naturally, this has caused a lot of curiosity within the community.

Some fans have mused that a Bully 2 must be in store, going by the theory that Rockstar would not go through the effort to change the logo just to hint at a remaster. Another important thing to consider is that Bully was already remastered for the PS4 in 2016, as the original was released on the PS2. However, this remaster was very basic in comparison to other remastered games such as GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, leaving room for improvement. It is also worth noting that a Bully sequel has never been completely off the cards, with Rockstar president Sam Houser being the last to release an official statement on the subject. Almost a decade ago, Houser admitted that he had many different ideas for a Bully sequel, providing hope for the future.

Although Bully was released fifteen years ago, it is still treasured among Rockstar fans and held in high esteem. Rockstar acknowledged this by adding several Bully easter eggs into GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, the last major Rockstar game released, leading fans to ponder whether there is a deeper meaning behind them. One of the most noticeable Bully-themed easter eggs is the trophy players earn on completion of RDR2, called “Endless Summer.” Coincidentally, this is also the name of Bully’s post-ending chapter. Other smaller easter eggs can be found throughout the game, such as the two-headed skeleton located near Beecher’s Hope, eerily similar to Bully’s conjoined twins Delilah and Jezebel.

Although a Bully remaster for the latest-generation consoles would certainly be something to get hyped about, fans may be more excited for a Bully 2 announcement. With the recent activity on Rockstar’s website and the easter eggs in RDR2, fans are within reason to question whether a sequel is on the horizon, breathing life into the “Canis Canem” motto once again.
