When it comes to Rockstar Games beloved catalogue of games, everyone has their favorites. While most of those first titles, the ones that remind us that Rockstar Games is a developer with a vast wealth of creativity, have since received a follow-up, there are a couple that have not.

One of those titles is Bully, the sandbox grade school mischief simulator developed by Rockstar’s Vancouver wing -- but it looks like that might change. That is, once Rockstar Vancouver releases their other highly anticipated sequels.

According to Rockstar VP Dan Houser, the developer is well aware of fans enthusiasm for Bully, and actually share that enthusiasm, but they wanted to hold off on rushing into a sequel to test the waters. With both Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto 5 slated to release much earlier than Bully 2, one has to expect Rockstar isn’t in a rush to start work on this sequel.

The only positive is that Rockstar has various segments within its larger company to work on sequels like Red Dead, GTA, and that rumored L.A. Noire follow-up, it’s just unfortunate that Rockstar Vancouver is tied up in Max Payne 3. And it’s Max Payne 3’s development that superseded Bully 2’s.

"Contrary to a lot of people, we like to take a little bit of time at the end of a game before starting a sequel, so we can wait for the excitement or disappointment and everything else of the experience to shake down and really see what we should do in the next game. So we knew that we didn't want to start doing the Bully sequel instantly at that second with those guys -- even though it is a property that, like Max, we adore and might come back to in the future. There was just no impetus to do that then...So we said, 'You can do Max, and then we will see what we can do with Bully.' So it was really waiting for the slot to open up and the group to open up to at least start work on it."

So yes, Bully 2 is in the pipeline, but not until the release of Max Payne 3 some time next year. Obviously that would put Bully’s development a ways off, and a potential release date further off from that, but confirmation that Rockstar hasn’t forgot about the title should be enough to placate fans for now.

Are you ready for Bully 2? How does the sequel rate in Rockstar’s lexicon of popular titles for you?
