Today, Gearbox Publishing and People Can Fly have officially released a story trailer for Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, with the fresh video featuring none other than the likes of first-person shooter icon Duke Nukem. Fans of the original Bulletstorm should feel a forceful wave of nostalgia wash over them after watching the footage, as it provides a rundown of the existing plot, albeit with newly enhanced graphics.

Of course, as seen at the end of the Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition trailer below, while the story from initial title will remain intact, the incorporation of Duke Nukem is a complete first for the franchise. Fans will be able to unlock him as a stand-in for the original protagonist Grayson Hunt after pre-ordering the forthcoming game.

For those unaware, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition was announced last year as a remaster project during E3 2016, with Gearbox and People Can Fly subsequently providing the press with screenshots for comparison with the original version of the title to show how vastly improved the visuals are going to be for the game on current-generation platforms. Following this announcement, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford showed up at The Game Awards 2016 to confirm that Duke Nukem will be included as DLC.

Fans who already own the original Bulletstorm and want to get the Full Clip Edition without having to pay extra will be disappointed to learn that they will have to buy the forthcoming remaster just like everyone else. Randy Pitchford confirmed that a free upgrade path wouldn't be possible due to conflicting rights issues cropping up during the process of making Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition.

Bulletstorm Remaster in the Works - Bulletstorm Remaster main characters Grayson Hunt

Despite the fact that the original Bulletstorm didn't receive the most positive reception when it came out, a look at our review of the game shows that it definitely has plenty of merits and unique qualities all its own, which somewhat justifies the title's reintroduction to contemporary audiences. However, it remains to be seen if enough people are truly interested in the Full Clip Edition to support the release of the remaster.

Taking all of this into consideration, perhaps sales of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition will not only make Gearbox and People Can Fly their money back on the project, but also will be sizeable enough to warrant a proper sequel for the franchise. Of course, only time will tell.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is set to launch on April 7, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
