The PS5 reveal event unveiled some incredibly interesting games coming to PlayStation’s next generation console, including the charming, yet slightly creepy Bugsnax. Young Horses, the development team behind Bugsnax, is probably most well known for creating the quirky hit Octodad.

Now, it seems Young Horses is continuing that wacky and whimsical legacy from the brief glimpse that PlayStation fans saw from the Bugsnax reveal trailer. Recently, in an interview with USGamer, Philip Tibitowski of Young Horses discussed the topic of what the DualSense controller’s new features can bring to the gaming experience on PS5.

Bugsnax stood out during the PS5 reveal event that happened last week for a number of reasons. For one, the goofy and child-like aesthetic of the game contrasted with the game’s closing scene, which featured an almost jump scare-esque ending. Fans have started speculating whether Bugsnax might actually be a horror game in disguise as a result. Additionally, the collaboration with Kero Kero Bonito, an Indie J-pop infused band from the UK, escalated the bright and bubbly nature of the game’s reveal trailer.

Following the reveal, USGamer published an interview with Philip Tibitowski who spoke on a variety of topics ranging from Bugsnax to the musical collaboration with Kero Kero Bonito. However, Tibitowski also discussed the PS5’s DualSense controller and certain features that enhance the playing experience on the next generation console. The feature Tibitowski discusses is the use of haptic feedback, which is a highly flexible form of HD rumble that programmers and developers can utilize with the DualSense controller.

In regards to haptic feedback, Tibitowski said, “Running around in the environment and feeling the different types of terrain under your feet while sprinting is really cool and weird. Past vibration in games has felt good, it's a nice addition, but it's never been essential, I guess. Now, it feels like it makes a big difference in the game…” Tibitowski clarifies that haptic feedback can adapt to different types of terrain or when Bugsnaks are attempting to escape from the player’s trap. While haptic feedback sounds like a welcome addition to the PS5’s controller, some PlayStation fans are concerned about the cost of the DualSense controller.

Though Sony has still kept quiet on the cost of the price of both the PS5 and the DualSense, PlayStation fans finally have solid info about both pieces of hardware. While fans may not know everything about the DualSense controller just yet, there is still plenty of information out there to get excited about. That goes for Bugsnax as well, as the game looks incredibly charming while also seeming like it’s hiding something beneath its bubbly exterior.

Bugsnax will be launching this holiday for PC via the Epic Games Store, PS4, and PS5.
