Over the past few months, it is hard not to notice how much free publicity Bugsnax has gained through its status as a meme. One Redditor named Some_MelonCat has been helping to keep the Bugsnax jokes alive, as they have been sharing an edited video game cover every day for the past few weeks.

The Redditor promised to edit game covers to fit the Bugsnax tone every day “until [they] get bored,” with the result being 17 days of fully unique game covers. Many covers include the line “kinda bug and kinda snack” from Bugsnax's catchy theme song as well. Day one began with Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with the dedicated and talented Bugsnax player remembering to keep the hyphen from the webslinger’s title intact. The subtitle font is kept as well, adding to the edit’s quality.

Days 2 and 3 saw the covers for Psychonauts and Cyberpunk edited, with the phrase “Bugsnax 2077” being hard not to smile at. Bioshock and Elden Ring game next, with Skyrim making up the sixth day of Bugsnax cover edits. Day 7’s cover was particularly memorable, though, as it saw the cover of the first Dying Light game fitting well with the meme. After all, with part of the focus in Bugsnax being how appetizing the bugs are, seeing hordes of hungry zombies fits well with theme.

The second week of covers began with Minecraft, and the stylized font for the game’s title allowed Some_MelonCat to put their skills on display once again. Day 9 saw the first game in the Halo franchise edited to fit with the joke, while Borderlands 3’s psycho saw the Bugsnax title floating above his head on day 10. Day 11 was particularly strong, however, as it saw Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater becoming “Bug Snax Solid.” Big Boss’s salute on the cover only adds to the hilarity, setting a new standard for the meme.

Day 12 and Day 13 saw Terraria and Disco Elysium getting some love, with Some_MelonCat giving Geralt of Rivia’s standout adventure some love for Day 14. “The Bugsnax: Kinda Snack” is a brilliant title, after all, with this Witcher 3 creation followed up by "Bugsnax V" — a clever rework of the Battlefield 5 cover. Day 16 saw Forza Horizon 4’s cover altered, while Day 17 proved to be a strong finale due to a detailed Danganronpa edit. The inclusion of characters from Bugsnax in the logo made it the most detailed of the bunch, with the graphic designer ending the series on a high note.

For those that cannot get enough of these Bugsnax edits, though, Some_MelonCat has also shared low effort edits for Half-Life, Resident Evil, Hollow Knight, Undertale, and Titanfall 2. Further, with the series only stopped temporarily so that the Redditor can recover from being sick, the door has been left open for more great Bugsnax memes in the future.

Bugsnax is out now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
