The most recent set of updates leading to the release of The Witch Queen expansion in Destiny 2 have brought with them new content and updates to a lot of existing features that fans are so far pleased to see. However, some players have already begun to found bugs and glitches sprinkled throughout Destiny 2's Season 16, including some cosmetic augmentations that just don't seem right.

One of these recent glitches comes courtesy of Destiny 2 content creator Cheese Forever, who posted on their YouTube channel a showcase of a shader that appears to have been changed in these updates. Considering how drastic this change looks and the fact that the preview image for the shader hasn't been altered, this can likely be cracked up to a misread piece of code loading up the wrong texture.

In Cheese Forever's video, the player can be seen trying on the Night's Chill shader and applying it to several weapons, armor sets, and even their sparrow. However, while the Night's Chill shader is meant to have a teal-blue and white aesthetic, the current version gives a vibrant pink color with blue circles dotted around in a gridded pattern. Normally, Night's Chill is one of Destiny 2's more stylish shaders, somewhat evoking the color-scheme of in-game groups like The Nine, but this new version takes a completely new direction.

For the players that have noticed this strange glitch with the Night's Chill shader, many are torn about exactly how horrible they think this recent glitch really is. On one hand, the new texture applied is nowhere near what players would have been expecting when trying the shader on again since it launched, but on the other hand the current version is striking in its own way, mostly for comical reasons. Either way, the broken Night's Chill appears to be little more than a texture loading incorrectly, and will likely be a simple fix in Destiny 2's next patch.

This misread shader itself has brought up a bit of a conversation among Destiny 2 fans regarding the cosmetics available in the game. Specifically, this broken Night's Chill fits into a niche of the in-game fashion that some fans haven't been able to recreate since the early days of the game, or even at all with certain character classes and armor sets. So, while a fix would be appreciated for Night's Chill, hopefully Bungie will embrace some of the positive feedback of this error and bring back some of Destiny 2's older shaders or create new ones that lean into this vibrant style the way the glitch does.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
