Ever since the release of Pokemon Red & Blue more than a quarter of a century ago, mainline Pokemon games have always come in pairs. Some see this as a cynical cash-grab from Game Freak and Nintendo, and while it's possible that there may be some element of truth to this, it also serves another purpose. Each pair of games features version-exclusive Pokemon, meaning that players will need to trade with their friends in order to complete their Pokedex. Unsurprisingly, perhaps, this is once again the case with the series' latest installments, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
At launch, each of the games features 37 Pokemon that can't be found in the other. The vast majority of these show up in the Grand Underground, a brand new area that was created exclusively for the remakes. Some of them also appear on regular routes though, while the version exclusive Legendary Pokemon are found either at the Spear Pillar as part of the main story or in the Ramanas Park end-game area. With all this in mind, this guide will focus on all of the version-specific Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond.
