At the Inside Xbox event in May, fans got their first look at Bright Memory: Infinite, a greatly expanded version of the well-received FPS game Bright Memory. The Bright Memory: Infinite trailer was one of the most-talked about trailers coming out of the Inside Xbox event, and while Xbox fans will have to wait until 2021 to try the game, chances are good that they will get to play the original version come the Xbox Series X launch day.
FYQD, the one-man studio that created Bright Memory, has said that the original Bright Memory is aiming for the Xbox Series X launch. FYQD made this announcement during the Playism Game Show, where he also confirmed that the upcoming Bright Memory: Infinite is planned to launch as an Xbox Series X console exclusive in 2021, alongside a PC version.
For the uninitiated, Bright Memory is a first-person shooter that combines elements from melee-focused action games like Devil May Cry. Players have a variety of abilities at their disposal, which they can use to quickly traverse the environment and defeat enemies. It only takes about an hour to beat, but while the experience is a short one, it was generally well-received by fans and critics during its early access Steam release last year.
Bright Memory is just the latest game confirmed for the Xbox Series X launch lineup, which is mostly comprised of cross-generation third-party games. Arguably two of the biggest games making up the Xbox Series X launch lineup are Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs, though there are some first-party games present as well.
As far as first-party games go, Xbox fans can look forward to an upgraded version of Forza Horizon 4, as well as the console debut of the turn-based strategy take on the Gears of War franchise, Gears Tactics. It's possible some other games currently pegged for a vague "holiday 2020" release will also make the cut, like Bloober Team's The Medium, but that has yet to be confirmed at the time of this writing.
While there is plenty to look forward to in regards to the Xbox Series X launch lineup, there's no denying that it's lacking a major first-party exclusive. Originally, Microsoft planned on releasing Halo Infinite as an Xbox Series X launch title, but poor reception to the game's campaign reveal trailer triggered a change of plans that saw the highly-anticipated FPS delayed to next year. While fans have awhile longer to wait for Halo, though, there should be plenty of high quality third-party releases to fill the void between now and then.
Bright Memory is out now on PC and is expected to launch for Xbox Series X on November 10.
