It certainly helps that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is easily one of the best remasters fans have seen for a long time, with pretty much everything in the first three games being touched upon to a massive extent, making the visuals all the more pleasing in modern times. Players who want to see this remaster shine its brightest should simply take a look at the following breathtaking locations in the game.

10 Illium

Illium in Mass Effect 2

Perhaps the most perfect city to feature in the Mass Effect series, players who end up looking at the skyline of this grand settlement in Mass Effect 2 and 3 will instantly fall in love with one of the most beautiful locales in the entire game.

The city is packed with a ton of stuff, including a club that feels quite pleasant to explore along with a rendezvous from multiple long-running characters in the series as well!

9 Bekenstein

Bekenstein in Mass Effect 2

Easily one of the most beautiful locations in the entire game, it's a shame that the player's view of Bekenstein is limited to a skyline view from an admittedly impressive mansion.

It's the beauty of this area alone that convinced most players to purchase the Kasumi - Stolen Memory DLC in the first place... not that players of the Legendary Edition need to worry about this since the title comes packed with all three games and the DLCs that were released for them as well.

8 Hagalaz

The Lair of the Shadow Broker is easily one of the best DLCs for Mass Effect 2, mainly due to the return of Liara and the reveal of the elusive Shadow Broker — even though his character might've been flanderized a bit in order to make him seem like a bad guy worthy of being hunted down.

However, one must also address the beautiful worlds that the player manages to explore as a result of this DLC, with Hagalaz being a notable exception for featuring one of the most memorable and scenic skylines in the entire series.

7 Presrop

The first Mass Effect title has been touched upon the most in the Legendary Edition, with everything from the dated combat to the muddy visuals receiving a massive upgrade. These improvements have proven to be quite a hit, with stellar locations like Presrop receiving a massive visual upgrade as well.

The view of the planet Klendagon from Presrop — its moon — was already a sight to behold, but the remaster makes it so that this scene becomes absolutely breathtaking in the remaster. Most people would completely forget that their main objective on this planet was to apprehend a former Alliance officer and disband his cult!

6 Aite

The Overlord DLC might not have knocked it out of the park in Mass Effect 2, but there's no denying the fact that the planet that it introduces for players to explore is extremely beautiful regardless.

Roaming around this planet in the Hammerhead and soaking in the sights is truly a blast, with the planet feeling like an alternate version of Earth full to the brim with beautiful waterfalls, luscious terrain... and a whole host of dangers that need to be tackled as well.

5 Menae

While Menae might seem like nothing more than a hauntingly bleak location at first glance, players who go through this area will quickly find that this massive moon houses a number of impressive sights.

Perhaps the most notable view in this regard as to be the view of Palaven from Menae. It's a scene that would definitely leave players in awe as they stare at the massive planet that the moon they're on orbits.

4 Virmire

After touching down on Virmire, the player can't really be faulted for thinking that they've landed in the Caribbean all of a sudden. Even amidst a massive battle, Virmire looks absolutely beautiful due to its rich coastal setting.

Of course, the fact that the storm clouds in the background also add to the atmosphere of this location is something that should be commended as well, turning Virmire into one of the highlights in the original Mass Effect.

3 Sur'Kesh

Speaking of tropical locations, one can't fail to mention the homeworld of the Salarian race that becomes an absolute treat to explore due to this area being the perfect combination of futuristic architecture and dense jungles.

One could argue that Sur'Kesh is perhaps the best place players can explore in Mass Effect 3... had it not been for another location that ended up topping this list instead.

2 Luna

For the longest time, the original Mass Effect shies away from the galaxy that modern humans are most familiar with — The Milky Way. Players are led to believe that it's pretty much impossible for them to explore any celestial body in this area properly... that is, unless they reach Level 20 in the base game or Level 11 in the Legendary Edition.

This opens up the mission about a rogue VI that is causing havoc in the Alliance training ground on the moon, giving players an excuse to land on this planet and witness the imposing body of Earth from the surface of Luna in all its glory.

1 The Citadel

Of course, any long-time fan of the Mass Effect series was obviously aware of the fact that there was really only one location in the entirety of the Legendary Edition that ended up being a treat to explore, regardless of which game it was featured in.

The Citadel is easily a location where people will spend most of their time in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, with most major story beats and memorable side quests being carried out in this location. The interesting design of this city coupled with some truly iconic and beautiful scenes make the Citadel one of the best locations in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
