The Champion Power received for the completion of Divine Beast, Vah Rudania is "Daruks Protection." This gives Link a magical barrier that prevents damage and stuns any enemy foolish enough to charge into it. Let's take a look at how to free Vah Rudania from the control of Calamity Ganon and return the beast to its rightful place as protector of the Gorons.

Preparation

This dungeon very heavy on puzzles with little combat. The boss is also incredibly easy, so death isn't really a concern here. Have at least 5+ hearts, an armor set that's been upgraded once, a lot of cooked dishes, and as many weapons, bows, and arrows as you can carry. You'll also want the entire Flamebreaker Armor set or at least some Fireproof Elixirs. Stamina is mostly irrelevant, as the sprinting time is really all it'll do for you here.

If you have the entire Flamebreaker Armor set, damage from heat will never be an issue in this dungeon, indoors or outdoors. Before entering the dungeon, you can immediately turn around and find a treasure chest containing an Ancient Screw. Now walk down the steps.

Dungeon Map

The dungeon is completely dark on the inside. There are several glowing eyes located in this room that are easily killed with arrows. The Bomb Rune or tossing weapons are good alternatives if you don't have any. One of the glowing eyes guards a treasure chest that has a Torch. This torch even comes with a Durability upgrade that makes the flame stay lit until you put it away.

Now go back to the beginning of the room and light the torch with the blue flame. This gives you better visibility in addition to letting you light another torch in the room, causing a door to open.

Behind the door, you will find a Guardian Scout with some more glowing eyes scattered about. Defeat the Guardian Scout and the glowing eyes, several of which will drop treasure chests. Some of the Malice blocks a torch with no flame, go back to the previous area and grab the blue flame again, and take it to the unlit torch to raise the bars. Place the Sheikah Slate in the slot to obtain the dungeon map.

Open up the map to see the controls for this dungeon, you can fully rotate the entirety of Rudania. This will be used for navigation at several points.

First Terminal

The first terminal is in the main room. From where you got the dungeon map, walk beyond the gate. You will see the first terminal up and to the right. Unfortunately, it is currently turned on its side. You will need to correct this in order to access the terminal.

Luckily, the fix is easy. Open up the map and turn the dungeon 90 degrees. Then, you can make your way to the other side of the room.  Now, use your Paraglider and you can glide over to land safely by the terminal. Interact with the terminal to activate it.

Second Terminal

Breath of the Wild

With the dungeon still rotated, you now have access to a staircase that goes to a higher floor. Walk up the staircase to go outside. After you reach the top, rotate the dungeon back to its default position. While it's rotating you can run along the side of the structure that will become the floor. Move forward and you’ll find an unlit torch. Don't worry about the torch just yet. For now, you simply need to be in this location.

Look to the left of the torch and you will see some more Malice up ahead. Shoot the glowing eye to destroy it and climb further. As you climb, look to your left. You want to ascend just far enough to be able to fall off the small ledge to the left. Just be careful to not fall all the way down to the floor. Rotate the dungeon 90 degrees again and you will be able to walk to where the Malice used to be.

As you walk along the perimeter you will see a treasure chest on the outskirts. Jump over to it to obtain an Ancient Core. Stay where the treasure chest is, and rotate the dungeon again to make it right side up. More Malice can be found with a glowing eye that needs to be killed just above you. Shooting the eye and killing the malice will expose the second terminal. Approach it and use your Skeikah Slate to activate it.

Third Terminal

The next terminal makes use of the unlit torch that you saw earlier. After climbing the staircase, light the torch using the blue flame from the first room. It has to be the blue flame. Regular fire will not do it. Make sure the dungeon is set to its default position. By using the torch you got from the treasure chest in the first room, you can finish this task in one go, thanks to the higher durability.

After lighting the torch, rotate the dungeon again and make your way over to the staircase, then go outside. While outdoors, rotate the dungeon and traverse the ledge while it is in the process of moving. Light the unlit torch you find to cause the nearby gate to open. When the gate opens a ball will roll down, which can be seen through the bars on the ground.

Follow the ball as rolls to the top of the staircase. Rotate the dungeon onto its side again, and this will cause the ball to roll down even further. You will find that there is a metal box at the bottom that is blocking the ball from finishing its route. Use the Magnesis Rune to lift the box and the ball will land in the perfect spot, causing a nearby gate to open. The third terminal is just beyond this gate.

Fourth Terminal

The 4th Terminal is close to the main floor. Across from the room where the ball fell you will find 2 metal doors. The doors will not open because a wooden plank is jamming them shut. Shoot a Fire Arrow at the vines located above and it will burn the wooden plank freeing up the doors. If you don't have any Fire Arrows, a regular arrow can also work, just hold an arrow out next to the blue flame and it will light, acting as a makeshift Fire Arrow.

The Magnesis Rune can now be used to open the metal doors and activate the 4th Terminal. Don't leave yet! Look above to find more vines that can be burned which will allow another treasure chest to fall. It contains an Ancient Gear.

Final Terminal

The last terminal is located back close to the dungeon entrance. When going down the ramp you will see 2 torches with a closed door next to one of them that has a hole in it. Looking through the hole, you will see that there is an unlit torch on the other side. Pull out an arrow, light it with the blue flame and shoot it through the hole. This will light the torch and let you in.

This room contains a wall of fire that prevents any progress. Look around and you will see vines nearby that can be burned with a Fire Arrow to drop a large metal block nearby.

Use the Magnesis Rune to place the block over the flames and prevent them from shooting out. Put it all the way on the side of the flame wall nearest the flames to ensure absolute safety. Rotate the dungeon sideways to walk through, then turn the dungeon again and this will allow you to activate the final terminal.

With all 5 terminals online, the Main Control Unit can now be turned on. Make sure you are fully healed before interacting with it. It can be found outside on top of the dungeon. Interacting with it will start the boss fight with Fireblight Ganon.

Fireblight Ganon, Phase 1

Fireblight Ganon in Breath of the Wild

Fireblight Ganon wields a massive sword for its main attack. Its vertical slashes can be dodged by jumping sideways and the horizontal swipes can be jumped over. You can also avoid every sword attack just by keeping your distance. Optimal dodging will give you many chances to get off some Flurry Rushes, which is the best way to deal damage to the boss.

Fireblight Ganon can also execute consecutive slashes that you need to look out for. Additionally, it can throw out a lot of small fireball projectiles at once. The fireballs can be countered just by running away or using a non-wooden shield. After Fireblight Ganon loses half of its health bar, the second phase will start.

Fireblight Ganon, Phase 2

This second phase of Fireblight Ganon is actually easier than the first. It will now fly significantly higher than before, making it impossible to hit with your sword. Fireblight Ganon can also shoot several fireballs out that can easily be avoided by hiding behind a pillar or shooting them with a bow.

The Bomb Rune is the most important part of this phase. When Fireblight Ganon charges up for an attack, it will suck in all of the nearby air. You can take advantage of this by tossing a bomb in its direction and detonating it when it flies near the boss to stun it, allowing you to get off several attacks.

Fireblight Ganon’s final attack is in the form of a laser, that can either be avoided by hiding behind something solid or by using a well-timed shield bash. The bow, tossing weapons, or the Bomb Rune are all useful here. Keep this going until the boss has had enough.

It should be noted that any treasure chests or dropped weapons/shields/bows will be permanently lost when you leave, so make sure you have everything you want before pressing forward. The chests in Divine Beasts never contain anything necessary for 100% completion or required completion, so they can be completely ignored if you wish.
