Few monsters inhabiting the expansive world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild terrify players as much as Lynels, massive lion-centaur creatures with powerful attacks and enormous amounts of HP. Fighting even one without the proper weapons and buffs means certain death - but what would happen if players took on two at once?

This is exactly what Reddit user Smart_Resource_1068 set out to discover when they challenged two Gold Lynels, the toughest version of the monster found in Breath of the Wild.

Smart_Resource_1068 recorded a section of the fight, which shows Link defending with an Ancient Shield and performing a number of fast-paced Flurry Rush attacks in order to slow down time and hit the Lynels multiple times in a row. They use an alternating strategy, first attacking one Gold Lynel and then the other with a combination of melee and arrow attacks and the occasional bomb. Link sports a maxed Stamina meter, allowing him to maintain Flurry Rush for longer periods of time, as well as buffs which significantly boosted his health and defense. A full version of the fight was later posted to their YouTube channel.

Responses on Reddit were generally positive, with commenters referring to the player as a "legend." Some thanked Smart_Resource_1608 and other Breath of the Wild content creators for giving fans something to enjoy while impatiently awaiting the game's sequel, as it has been over 600 days since Nintendo has shared any information.

Smart_Resource_1068 has played over 2300 hours of Breath of the Wild. They were able to set up this one-of-a-kind fight by standing in the Tabantha Snowfield north of the stable and firing Shock Arrows from an Ancient Bow. This eventually attracted the attention of the two Gold Lynels which patrol the area, and both charged at Link at once. Presumably, after he'd defeated them, Link had to stop by the stable to rest up.

They run a YouTube channel under the name "Hyrule Master Chef," where they post videos focused around completing combat challenges and cooking powerful recipes - some of which were recently shown to be quite delicious in real life - in Breath of the Wild. A recent video highlights the ten most effective ways to enter the slowed-down "Bullet Time" which was extensively used during the double Gold Lynel fight.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently available for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
