Fans of the franchise were ecstatic about the highly anticipated sequel and have since been discussing features they would like to see added to the game as well as features from BOTW gamers would like to see return in the exciting new release.

Breath of The Wild Links House

Breath of The Wild is the first game within the Zelda franchise where gamers can get their own house and customize it by displaying weapons. The house provides gamers a place to sleep and a campfire for cooking food and elixirs. The house can be obtained by completing the 'Hylian Homeowner' side quest which can be found in the Hateno Village.

Having a home base and somewhere to display their favorite weapons, many players really enjoyed this feature within BOTW. It was a simple but effective touch that added a sense of homeliness and realism. Hopefully the feature will reappear in Tears of The Kingdom.

9 Hetsu

Breath of The Wild Hetsu

Hetsu is the beloved maraca playing giant korok who in BOTW, introduces players to the korok seed side quest where gamers must try and located a whopping 300 hidden seeds. It is suspected that koroks will return in Tears of The Kingdom there has been no mention of Hetsu.

Hetsu was an adorable addition to BOTW and many gamers felt as though they could have had a bigger role within the game or made even more of an appearance. This is why seeing Hetsu more in Tears of The Kingdom would be a nice addition to the game that would also add some diversity to the usual koroks seen within the game. There could even be a quest of side story explaining why Hetsu is so different to the other koroks.

8 Weather

Breath of The Wild rain

Weather in BOTW is something players either loved on hated. Weather within the game was completely unpredictable with thunderstorms and rain appearing unexpectedly. This feature was of course regional, with some parts of the map such as Gerudo Desert and Goron Mountain remaining dry and sunny and with Zora's Domain having frequent downpours. However, in most of the map, the weather was pretty unpredictable.

Rain in the game makes climbing and navigating much harder, adding both a sense of realism and an added challenge to the game. This sense of realism was a fun addition to the game challenging players to power through diverse conditions all across the map.

7 Diverse And Breakable Weapons

Breath of The Wild Weapons

One thing Breath of The Wild was credited for was its wide selection of weapons as well as their diversity and the range in ways they would be obtained. Bows, spears, swords and xes are among the many weapons in games. Fans loved the selection of weapons in game as well as the fact they are breakable. This not only again adds realism, but means gamers can continue to explore the range of weapons and try out new ones as their older ones break.

Link's House also means players can store their favorite weapons outwith the inventory and save higher durability ones for bigger quests and defeating Ganon. Gamers are hoping the Tears of The Kingdom will introduce even more exciting weapons to explore and try out in game.

6 Memories

Breath of The Wild Champions Memory

'Memories' in the game act almost as collectible for players, each one giving a short cut-scene and presenting a piece of backstory that ties in with the games plot. As the game is open world and very free, allowing players to essentially do what they want, these memories are a nice addition and add a bit more of a storyline to the game.

The memories also give gamers insight on what happened before when the game is set as well as more information on NPC's such as the champions and Zelda herself. They are a fascinating and enjoyable part of the game, and it would be a shame to see them go in Tears of the Kingdom.

5 Mini-Games

Breath of The Wild Mini Game

There are countless things to do in BOTW either after finishing the games mission or whilst putting it off and mini-games are one of the most simple yet fun ways to enjoy the game. There are mini-games dotted all across the map and although irrelevant to the games objective, they are really enjoyable!

Deer hunting, bowling and paragliding are just a few of the fun games. Others are more obvious in the game such as The Blue Flame game. This would be a great addition to Tears of the Kingdom as it gives players something to do after they complete the main goal of the game or for when gamers want to do something other than quests in the game.

4 Cooking

Breath of The Wild Recipes

Cooking is an aspect of many games that gamers enjoy and is usually a feature in Nintendo games. Cooking in games allows players to create meals that will restore health and brew elixirs to enhance Link's abilities including stealth, speed and stamina.

Cooking is both enjoyable and practical in BOTW And again, adds a sense of realism to the game. Food and cooking has always been part of the Zelda games, so it would be a shock if it was to not appear in Breath of The Wilds sequel.

3 Kass

Breath of The Wild Kass

Kass was another beloved character whose role was not huge in the game yet adored by players. Kass traveled the games map, playing his accordion in various locations and stables. When interacted with by Link, Kass provides a range of game play opportunities from side quests to pieces of the games' storyline.

Even taking gameplay out of the equation, Kass's songs within the game bring a joyful and peaceful element to the game play, adding to its whimsical feel. Kass is another side character who along with Hetsu, should definitely be making a return in Tears of The Kingdom.

2 Fast-Travel

Breath of The Wild fast-travel

Given the huge map in BOTW, fast travel made completing quests and traveling much easier for gamers. In the normal edition of te game, players could travel quickly to any shrine they had already visited, and in the DLC, by using the 'travel medallion.' This can be obtained by reading the book in The South Akkala Stable and completing the quest given from this.

It is suspected that the map for Tears of the Kingdom, will expand upon the map in BOTW hopefully meaning it will be even bigger with more places for gamers to explore. Because of this, fast travel would be a great feature to bring back in the sequel.

1 Shield Surfing

Breath of The Wild shield surfing

Finally, one of the most unique and fun things about Breath of The Wild is the introduction of shield surfing. Shield surfing allowed players to snowboard down hills quickly, jumping over rocks and flying past enemies. This mode of transportation is incredible fun and allows gamers to quickly travel without needing to tame a horse, shield surfing also does not use up stamina like running does.

The only issue being that weaker shields can break whilst shield surfing however this just means a broken shield and some funny graphics of link falling downhill. This addition to BOTW was simple, quirky and loved by fans meaning it would be a shame if this feature did not return in Tears of the Kingdom.

Overall, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had a huge range of quirky and fun features. With some just proving entertainment and extra things for gamers to do, and with others adding realism and detail to the games' story.

Tears of the Kingdom will be available on the Nintendo Switch store on May 12th
