The king of the platform-fighting genre may be Super Smash Bros., but Ubisoft’s cartoony brawler Brawlhalla has been carving a large niche for itself, not just by being free-to-play but by being available on multiple platforms as well. And now fans have even more ways to play the game, because it’s out now on mobile devices.

After announcing last year that the game would come to iOS and Android in 2020, Ubisoft confirmed a mobile release date of August 6 for Brawhalla at last month’s Ubisoft Forward. That’s tomorrow, but it’s been discovered that the game is already available to download on both the App Store and Play Store. While it’s not all that rare for a game to break its street date and launch early, it is rarer for a digital title like Brawlhalla.

At any rate, now that the game is available, mobile players now have access to various features such as customizable touch controls, controller support and cross-play. More than that, they can now dive into Brawlhalla’s extensive roster, which features 50 fighters and an impressive variety of guest characters from franchises like Rayman, Tomb Raider, Hellboy, WWE, Steven Universe, Ben 10, and more.

Ubisoft has said that Brawlhalla has attracted over 40 million players since it launched back in 2017. The key to its success, the company says, is the way it offers a rich gameplay alternative to Super Smash Bros. while maintaining a fair free-to-play ecosystem that doesn’t lock any of that gameplay behind premium payments.

Brawlhalla is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
