Another crossover has been announced for the free-to-play platform fighting game Brawlhalla, this time with Konami's iconic franchise Castlevania. This game has already seen quite a number of collaborations, not just with video games, but with other forms of media. As a result, Brawlhalla's roster contains over 50 different characters with incredibly diverse movesets, which has even resulted in a dedicated competitive fanbase.

Brawlhalla has seen a number of wild crossovers throughout the years since its release, with additions such as Hasbro's G.I. Joe toyline, Capcom's Street Fighter franchise, and Assassin's Creed's Ezio being added to Brawlhalla earlier this year. This addition of Castlevania was revealed earlier at Ubisoft Forward 2022, with fans learning which characters are being represented along with a release date for October 19.

This trailer utilizes an anime-esque art style, where it shows a pair of silhouettes battling it out with animations that are call-backs to the original game - one of which is Brawlhalla's resident vampire, Volkov. Shortly after, the trailer reveals Simon Belmont to be the first of these playable Castlevania guest characters. It then cuts to his gameplay demonstration, where Simon's moveset in Brawlhalla utilizing a number of items from his home game, including his whip, axe, and even holy water projectile. He can summon a boat to take him across the stage, that also being a reference to Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest on the NES.

While Volkov stares down the Belmont clan member, he is interrupted by the appearance of Dracula's son, the infamous Alucard. This iteration of Alucard borrows from games he has starred in, such as Symphony of the Night. His gameplay reflects this, where he can use his sword as a melee weapon while firing a variety of projectile soul weapons. This includes a flaming skull, which can be followed up with him leaping toward his enemies using his vampiric powers. The trailer ends with a shot of Volkov and Alucard about to clash before revealing that they will be added to the game this October.

This is an appropriate date for these characters to be released, with October being the month of Halloween and all things spooky. Brawlhalla even has its title briefly changed to Brawlhalla-vania, playing off the appearance of these Castlevania characters. Fans have quickly expressed their excitement for these additions to the game, with many also praising the fluid animation of the trailer and how it showed off these iconic characters.

Brawlhalla is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
