Brawlhalla is a free-to-play fighting game in 2D style, reminiscent of old Super Smash Bros. games, and it almost grows like them too. The roster of characters just saw its newest addition in the form of a space wrangler, bounty hunter, glockroach by the name of Reno.

Brawlhalla is now a very successful game, with an estimate of over 50 million players in March 2021. The game currently features 53 playable characters, the so-called Legends, including Reno. Each character comes with a combination of two different weapons that are exclusive to them, and a set of six signature moves equally split into two groups of three. The newest character, Reno, happens to be a Legend wielding two very prominent weapons in the current meta, namely Blasters and Orb.

Why Reno Being A Blasters And Orb Legend Is A Big Deal

The game garnered quite a lot of new players over the years, and the community has expanded up to a point where comments, suggestions, tips and tricks, news, fan art, and more are sprawling on the internet. A Blasters/Orb Legend was first called for as early as 2018, and ever since fans of the game have asked for this specific combination of weapons. Maybe it goes to show that, once they find a good, fitting concept for a new character, Ubisoft and BMG are indeed listening. The latest weapon added into the game is the Greatsword, so it was only natural that a new, non-Greatsword-wielding character had to be added after Jaeyun, Mako, and Magyar.

Rumors about a Blasters/Orb character had run rampant in the past few weeks, and when Reno was finally announced as the upcoming new Legend, the community was overjoyed. The character does possess a certain flair and charisma that other Legends lack, and its signature moves make him an extremely powerful addition to the current meta. Lots of videos about Reno and how he is played can be found on the internet, despite the Legend being so new.

Even one of Brawlhalla's major leading content creators, Boomie (who also happens to be a three-time world champion), has repeatedly said that a Blasters/Orb Legend would have likely been a favorite of his. Boomie mains Blasters characters and Orb Legends among other weapons he likes, and he also stated that he likes non-human Legends way more. As such, Reno almost seems to be tailor-made for Boomie himself.

Shaking Up the Brawlhalla Meta

The reason why this space cockroach being added is such a big deal is that it can have a good shot at shifting the meta even more, rapidly becoming one of the most used Legends both in casual play and official championships. The Official Brawlhalla Esports has entered its sixth year, and this season it features a prize pool of a whopping 1 million dollars total. The forthcoming Spring Championship alone has a $75.000 total prize pool, and it is likely to become the first official tournament where Reno gets to shine.

Right now, several Brawlhalla tier lists have quite a few Legends with either Blasters or Orb listed as being A-tier or S-tier, even. This reason alone makes Reno, who has both weapons, a potentially great asset for professional players. The wide-range coverage of his signature moves makes him especially dangerous in double tournaments and they can make for many two-players combos. Ultimately, whether Reno is a high-tier Legend remains to be seen, but new esports events for Brawlhalla are very likely to see some glockroach action.

Brawlhalla is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
