Many fans of the already existing Bravely Default sequel, Bravely Second were somewhat confused about the choice of name after the announcement of Bravely Default 2. Being the third entry in the series, a title of Bravely Default 3 or even perhaps Bravely Third would have made more sense, but Square Enix elaborated on why the name was chosen.

In an interview with Famitsu, Square Enix Producer Tomoya Asano explains that he and the rest of the dev team felt that Bravely Second didn't live up to its predecessor in the way they wanted it to. Asano goes on to even apologize to fans for the game not meeting expectations.

Naturally, there are many that deeply enjoyed Bravely Second, some even more than the original Bravely Default game, and those fans have come to the game's defense. Refuting Square Enix's claim that the game was inferior to the first one, social media has begun to explode with players recounting all of its redeeming qualities.

Both fans and detractors of Bravely Second should be able to agree that a new approach for the third game in the franchise will do a lot of good, as the developers claim that they have learned a lot from Bravely Second.

Bravely Second is available now exclusively for Nintendo 3DS.
