Bravely Default 2 may not be launching this year as originally intended, thanks to development struggles brought on by the pandemic, but fans have more Bravely Default to dive into before 2020 is over. Square Enix has released a brand new demo for its Switch-bound old-school RPG, giving fans an even larger glimpse of what it will have to offer.

With Bravely Default 2 now set to launch in February, the game’s second, and final, demo is now available to download from the Switch eShop, weighing in at 3.3GB. According to the announcement on Nintendo of America’s Twitter page, it provides fans with a taste of the “vivid art, strategic battle system, and memorable music” contained within the game’s first main chapter.

This chunk of gameplay features Bravely Default 2’s four main characters after they’re a ways into their journey, and, like the previous demo, lets players experiment with a number of the game’s jobs and abilities. Furthermore, it gives new players a chance to get familiar with the unique “Brave/Default” system, which spices up the traditional turn-based combat by letting characters and enemies alike spend or store up future turns to perform multiple actions in a single turn.

It’s possible that the demo also features at least a few of the improvements that Square Enix promised to add to the game following feedback from Bravely Default 2’s first demo earlier this year. Said improvements include the ability to change the difficulty setting on the fly (since the original demo was widely considered too hard) and quality-of-life changes to menu and battle screens.

Bravely Default 2 will launch on February 26, 2021 for the Switch.
