A common trope in video games is scripted boss fights. This is where the player is pit against a foe with incredible stats and abilities in a hopeless battle. Bravely Default 2 has its share of these, and one of them happens to be Galahad.
The first fight with Galahad in Bravely Default 2 is programmed in a way that the player can’t win. Eventually, they will battle him for real at Treetop Tower at the end of chapter 2. Players can also fight him again in Portal 3 at northeast Savalon for the Shieldmaster Asterisk later in the game.
Stats and Jobs
Galahad doesn’t fight alone. He has the Picto-Amrita and Picto-Beleth from the fights with Lily and Roddy, plus his own Picto Demon: Picto-Mona. This boss and the Picto Demons have the following stats:

The quickest way to defeat Galahad entails having the best Jobs and Abilities. While the players are free to use whichever they prefer, here are some suggestions:

Fighting Galahad
If players wish to immobilize Galahad, they can paralyze him with Ranger’s Shadowbind or have Lily paralyze him instead. This is recommended because it will stop him from trying to defend the Picto Demons.
Players would be wise to deal with Picto-Mona first (use Swords) because of its White Wind move, which heals all allies. When Mona is defeated, target Beleth’s Thunder weakness and then Amrita (use Physical moves). Another way to defeat the Picto Demons is by having a Black Mage maxed out (level 12) for the fight. Their 2nd Specialty lets their attacks ignore elemental immunity.
Because of Galahad’s high defense, players will want to have a Healer to heal on every turn. Chip away at his HP by targeting his weaknesses. Having a Monk with the Bare-Knuckle Brawler ability will also help in this fight.
Tips and Rewards
All enemies have a weakness to Light, so gather Petunias in the Wiswald Woods.
- Bring some Ethers.
- Players can also try their own strategy, but it’s recommended to pay attention to their enemies’ weaknesses if they want a chance at defeating Galahad.
- Avoid equipping Elemental Weapons.
When defeated, Galahad will drop the Giant's Shield. Pair this shield with a Vanguard, Shieldmaster, Pictomancer, Bastion, or Hellblade.
