Up until now, the Brain Age franchise has taken something of a leave of absence. Despite it being one of the Nintendo DS's most memorable games, the series' last iteration was Brain Age: Concentration in 2013. However, now that a new entry has been announced, more information is slowly trickling down regarding the game's mechanics and features including that of tracking statistics.

As mentioned, Nintendo has released a trailer for a new Brain Age game called Brain Training. Set to exclusively release in Japan, it appears to be in the style of Brain Age, as the game challenges players in various formats and utilizes different features of the Switch, including the console's motion detectors and other specs.

However, at least one feature of Brain Training will be exclusive to those with Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions. Specifically, this feature pertains to the tracking of players' brain ages. In the game, players can have stats sent to their email accounts from their Nintendo Switch showing their brain's age and perhaps other statistics.

However, this feature remains exclusive to those with a Nintendo Switch Online account. This means that those without one will be unable to see reports of their brain's via emails sent to them.

While it may be upsetting to some that this feature is exclusive to those with Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions, Brain Training looks to be a solid game, regardless. Although it won't necessarily be met with the same hype as The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it will nonetheless be taking advantage of some of the lesser-utilized features of the Nintendo Switch, such as the console's motion detectors.

Furthermore, the trailer indicates that the game seeks to utilize the Nintendo Switch's upcoming official stylus. In terms of hardware, Brain Training doesn't seem to be testing the boundaries of the Nintendo Switch as a powerhouse, but it does appear to be wanting to effectively illustrate the Switch's features that have, up until this point, taken a backseat to the hybrid aspect of Nintendo's console.

Brain Training will be releasing December 27, 2019, on Nintendo Switch in Japan only.
