If there's one thing that the Borderlands is known for, it is the laundry list of memorable characters that occupy the world of the game. With every new Borderlands iteration, the playable Vault Hunters from the previous installments become interactive NPCs, giving greater depth to their respective characters. Now, one fan has accurately replicated an iconic weapon from a fan-favorite vault hunter.

Zero was first introduced in Borderlands 2 as one of that game's first four Vault Hunters. While Zero's background was decently fleshed out in Borderlands 2, most of the actual plot didn't involve his character very much. Following the release of Borderlands 3 and Tales from the Borderlands, his character's personality and presence became more noticeable by comparison. While Zero had a slightly different look in the third Borderlands game, one crucial aspect of his character returned: his sword.

A Reddit user named LaserGadgets made an incredibly detailed replica of Zero's sword. With the serrated edge of the blade a glowing shade of blue, as well as portions of the sword hilt, this replica is quite accurate to how it looks in-game. The Redditor even included the Vault symbol on the top part of the sword hilt as a way to pay homage to the series overall.

With so many unique and interesting characters for fans to pull from, Borderlands cosplays are quite commonplace within the gaming community. However, with a character like Zero who uses such a distinct weapon, cosplays of his character can be difficult without the sword. As such, it would be amazing to see a Zero cosplay with this replica sword being used by a professional cosplayer.

The katana replica is a reminder of how impressive the longevity the Borderlands series has had over the last several years. It's been over a decade since the original Borderlands released and in that time, and the series has expanded to monumental heights and impacted numerous members of the gaming community. Its popularity has even reached the point where an officially licensed, Borderlands-themed tabletop game has been created.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Borderlands going forward. Right now, the last Vault Card for Borderlands 3 is in the works, and the spinoff Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is on the way. Still, it's unlikely that another mainline installment in the series will release anytime soon, given the huge gap in time between the release the release of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 3. When it does come, though, fans will likely see Zero and his sword in action once again.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5 Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
