The new vault hunters in Borderlands 3 each have their own thing that makes them special. For Moze, it is her ability to summon a ten-ton death machine known as Iron Bear that she can rip apart her enemies with. Being an ex-Vladof First Class Gunner, Moze has amazing abilities that work with many types of weapons as well.

She is capable of mowing down enemies with near-limitless amounts of ammo or turn them into a pile of blood and bones with explosive weapons that would make Torgue proud. But what items outshine the rest on her character. We aim to find out.

Updated May 31, 2021 by Aden Carter: Moze is now a more powerful character than ever before. Iron Bear has also received a great upgrade since the release of the 4th skill tree. Iron Bear can now become Iron Cub and run alongside Moze much like Fl4k's pets. With new gear, players can now build Moze builds like no other and tear down enemy health in an instant.

10 Flakker

Borderlands 3 Flakker legendary
  • Can spawn with the fire and elemental damage types.
  • Fixed magazine size of 1 that consumes 1 ammo per shot.
  • Fires a volley of explosions.

The Flakker is a staple weapon for many Moze builds due to its explosive potential. While it has been altered in a few updates, it still deals solid damage that can be further increased with Moze's skills. One of the main skills to focus on with an explosive weapon is "means of destruction." This skill grants Moze ammo for her weapon's clip whenever she deals splash damage.

Most of the time, players won't need to reload the Flakker and can just keep blasting enemies away. It also works well with "Torgue cross-promotion," which gives all of Moze's splash damage a chance to double in size. Just be careful of the backlash from this weapon.

9 Backburner

Borderlands 3 Backburner legendary rocket launcher
  • Dropped by the Agonizer 9000 on Mayhem level 6 or higher.
  • Fires a singularity that pulls enemies in.
  • Consumes 3 ammo per shot.

Moze wouldn't be complete without a rocket launcher to take to the battlefield. After all, rocket launchers are some powerful weapons, and mostly cause splash damage that Moze can take advantage of.

The Backburner is one of the best rocket launchers in the game and an all-around amazing weapon for Moze. This gun fires off a singularity that pulls in enemies before launching multiple projectiles around it. This deals a huge amount of splash damage.

8 Plasma Coil

Borderlands 3 Plasma Coil legendary SMG
  • Added in the Designer's Cut DLC.
  • Always drops with the shock and radiation elemental damage types.
  • Fire 16 shot bursts.

The Plasma Coil is now considered to be one of, if not the most powerful gun in the game. It fires off volleys of 16 rounds before it pauses to cool down. This may not sound like a lot, but those 16 shots can decimate an enemy's health bar.

The additional splash damage is great for characters like Moze, who can take advantage of it. Moze can alsobenefit from the high fire rate that this gun has. The Plasma Coil can be retrieved from Arms Race from any loot source.

7 Mind Sweeper

Borderlands 3 Mind Sweeper legendary
  • 25% chance to plant a microgrenade on a target.
  • Microgrenades can proc a critical hit.

Mind Sweeper is a class mod that was generally ignored at first, but has an amazing ability. This class mod adds the chance for Moze's critical hits to drop a micro grenade. This works incredibly well with Moze's infinite ammo skill tree which has multiple skills that give bonuses to critical hits.

It is also very effective when used with Moze's blue skill tree, which has multiple skills that increase splash damage. This bonus is also applied to grenades, which makes it extremely powerful when using explosives like the Hex.

6 Flare

Borderlands 3 Flare legendary class mod
  • Increases weapon damage based on how long Iron Bear has been active.
  • Adds bonus skill points to Cloud of Lead, Stainless Steel Bear, and Means of Destruction.

Over the last year, Iron Bear has mostly been put on the sidelines. This is because Moze's lovable metal companion has been lackluster when it comes to damage. Players will typically use Iron Bear for the damage buff and then forget about it.

Now Iron Bear has a purpose (though of course, it is still about damage). The Flare class mod is amazing because it boosts Moze's weapon damage by up to 100%. This bonus increases the longer Iron Bear or Iron Cub is out on the battlefield.

5 Blast Master

Borderlands 3 Blast Master legendary
  • Increases splash damage by up to 100%.
  • Damage increases the longer Moze goes without reloading.

The Blast Master class mod is one of the more utilized class mods for Moze. It gives her up to an additional 100% splash damage the longer she fires her weapon. Many infinite ammo Moze builds utilize this class mod for that purpose, since skills like "Redistribution" and "Some for the road" give her bonus ammo regeneration and even infinite ammo.

This class mod also affects Moze's blue skill tree by increasing the amount of splash damage bonuses she gets from skills like "Fire in the skag den," which gives her bonus incendiary damage when she deals splash damage.

4 Bloodletter

Borderlands 3 Bloodletter legendary
  • Allows Moze to regenerate shields instead of health.
  • Can be combined with the Deathless artifact for an even greater shield gain.

The Bloodletter class mod is probably the most used by Moze players for the number of damage bonuses they can gain from it. This class mod allows Moze to gain shields any time that she would be healed.

It works great with Moze's "phalanx doctrine" skill, which increases her damage and shields with each kill. This class mod gives bonuses to her skill "thin red line" as well, which reserves Moze's health and further increases her shields. This also affects Moze's "desperate measures" skill, which increases her overall damage the lower her health is.

3 Deathless

Borderlands 3 Deathless legendary
  • Reserves all by 1 health of a player.
  • Increases shield capacity by 100%.
  • Can be combined with the Bloodletter class mod for a greater shield gain.

Deathless is an artifact that works with the Bloodletter class mod. The two go hand in hand and complement each other perfectly. "Desperate measures" is a skill that increases Moze's damage by up to 50% depending on how low her health is.

The Deathless artifact takes away all of Moze's health and adds it to her shields, so she only has one health remaining. When using the two legendary items together, Moze can keep a constant 50% damage bonus that she can use to mow enemies down easily. Another legendary item to use to complete the setup is Storm Front.

2 Plus Ultra Shield

Borderlands 3 Plus Ultra legendary shield
  • 25% chance to absorb bullets.
  • 30% increase to action skill cooldown rate.
  • Secretly doubles a character's health capacity.

The Plus Ultra shield has a hidden ability that doubles a player's health. This works amazingly well for Bloodletter builds on Moze, which use the Deathless artifact to eliminate all of Moze's health and add it to her shield.

While the Plus Ultra shield is equipped, Moze gets even more shields than players realize. In some instances, builds using these items can obtain over 700,000 shield capacity. Check out Moxsy's build to understand more about it.

1 Flipper

Borderlands 3 Flipper legendary SMG
  • Added in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
  • The longer the trigger is held the more projectiles this gun fires.
  • Dropped by the Minosaur in Bloodsun Canyon.

The Flipper can drop in any of the elemental weapon types, but Moze would do best with the fire element thanks to her increased incendiary damage. This weapon deals amazing on any of the vault hunters, but Moze can take advantage of the splash damage.

Players will want to take advantage of the consecutive hits anointment that this gun can drop with. This will increase Moze's damage by an unbelievable amount.
