Last week, Gearbox Software re-opened the doors to the first adventure on Pandora with Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, a remaster that fans have been hoping to see for a few years now. In addition to updated visuals and 4K support,  Borderlands remastered has some quality of life improvements like a minimap, more character customization options, an enhanced final boss battle, and more unique guns to find. Unfortunately, the online connectivity has proven to be less-than-reliable since launch, a fact that Gearbox is currently investigating.

Following last week's launch, console and PC players alike have been seeing connection issues when attempting to utilize the online co-op aspects of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. Gearbox Software put out a Tweet yesterday, letting fans know that the studio is testing potential fixes for the online issues, although no further details or a timeframe for when a fix may arrive was given in the update.

Given how much the community wanted to see a remastered version of the original Borderlands, the studio is well aware of how tough this situation is. As a way to say thank you for the player's patience Gearbox posted a new Shift code which unlocks Golden Keys that can be used at the golden Fyrestone chest in-game for new loot. The keys are added to the player's account, so technically once they're added, they can be used in any of the three major Borderlands games.

Even though Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition introduces a number of improvements, some classic exploits remain as players remember them almost a decade ago. The armory glitch from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC, a mechanic that players utilized to farm the Knoxx Armory without the usual timer, has been left in place. Players have also found a new glitch that allows them to reset and respawn the chests that appear after the final boss fight, essentially letting them acquire all six new legendary weapons added to the game.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
