Although all eyes are on the official launch of Borderlands 3, fans of the franchise are getting to enjoy the year of Borderlands by playing through the upgraded Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, which is commonly referred to as Borderlands Remastered. For those wondering, here is a complete list of changes in Borderlands Remastered, but one major change is the ability to import saves.

To import a save, however, is not as straightforward as it may seem. So, for those interested in porting old saves to Borderlands Remastered, there's going to be a few hoops. The first hurdle is to own an old copy of the original game and a system that can play it (Xbox 360, PS3). Then, players will need to log in to that copy of Borderlands with the same Gamer Tag or PSN name that they intended to import to. Cloud saves do not seem to work and this copy must have received the latest update to show the next step.

In the original copy of Borderlands, players will then want to choose 'Export Character' from the main menu, which will then allow them to choose from any (or all) of their old characters to bring over to Borderlands Remastered. This will result in the players' ability to access their old characters from Borderlands Remastered, but while this sounds simple and easy, some are likely to experience some issues with actually owning a last- and current-gen console with both copies of the game as well.

For those Borderlands Remastered players who experience issues unrelated to hardware, here are a few screenshots that may help out, courtesy of VaultHunter101.

This is not the only change currently available in the game. First introduced in Borderlands 2, the golden chest now appears in Borderlands Remastered, so here's how to get shift codes and golden keys in Borderlands Remastered. With old characters and new loot, the popularity of this rework simply cannot be understated.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
