The highly anticipated movie adaptation of Borderlands, the extremely popular game franchise, has completed filming. The announcement was shared on the film’s official social media account along with the first proper look at Claptrap, the overenthusiastic robot from the games.

Ever since the Borderlands film was announced, fans have been waiting for a proper look at all the characters, especially since they wanted to see how much of the original look from the games was being adapted. This is the first proper image of Jack Black’s Claptrap character that has been shared by the team behind the project. In the image, the robot is seen holding a clapperboard with the phrase “It’s a wrap!” written on it to confirm that the shoot is, in fact, over.

Claptrap is one of the most important characters in the Borderlands games, with many even referring to it as the franchise’s mascot. The film version of the popular one-wheeled robot is quite an accurate adaptation of the one that features in the games, with the designers retaining its original yellow color and a white stripe running across its chest. The shape of its body is similar to its game counterpart and it also has claws attached to its arms, along with a blue lens for an eye. It will be interesting to see the little character come to life, especially with Black lending his voice to it.

Earlier this month, Borderlands fans got to see a bunch of silhouetted images and a group shot of the main cast. The wait to see them in their live-action avatars continues as fans eagerly await the reveal of Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis, Kevin Hart as Roland, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, and Florian Munteanu as Krieg. These were the characters who were featured in the first set of images revealed by the production studio. But, with filming now complete, fans are hopeful that more images should be arriving soon, offering a look at the game-accurate appearances of the characters.

While it was previously confirmed that the film will not be a direct adaptation of any specific game in the Borderlands franchise, Hart has stated that the upcoming Eli Roth movie adaptation is as close to the games as possible. The film will focus on Lilith's story of returning to the planet of Pandora and forming a team to find Atlas' missing daughter. Apart from the characters photographed so far, the team will also consist of Janina Gavankar's Commander Knox and Gina Gershon's Moxxi.

The Borderlands movie is currently in production and is expected to release in 2022.
