In the latest blog post on the official Borderlands website, Gearbox made a number of announcements for Borderlands 3, including one of the most hotly requested updates since the game's launch. According to the post, there are a number of updates in the works, but the most notable change coming is the introduction of additional bank space.
The announcement comes on the heels of the latest patch and hotfix notes for October 24th, which has addressed some lingering issues as well as launched the first DLC event of the game, Bloody Harvest. This leads to the timeline for the new bank expansion, which will be launching alongside the next DLC, titled Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite.
Gearbox claims that the bank will be double its current size once the update is released. With as many weapons exist in Borderlands 3, it's no wonder that players have been looking for more space to hold all of their gear, even if they're only ever going to swap through a couple of them. Collectors will be especially happy to know that they can now hold all of the legendary weapons that they've been hunting down, especially with dedicated loot pools arriving soon to change how farming money and weapons will work in the near future.
The announcement came with additional information about what's to come for Borderlands 3 in the future, including other highly requested changes like adding vending machines before boss fights and adding a new Mayhem Mode level for players looking for a tougher challenge. These are some of the most requested changes that players have been asking for since the game released in September, but the timetable does put them pretty far down the road. Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite doesn't even have an official release date yet, so it's difficult to say exactly when these updates will actually be implemented.
Naturally, the blog post ended with more promises of future content, explaining that the updates already outlined are simply the top noted additions coming to the game, while other features are looking to be included in the future. It's fairly clear from some of these features, along with the language in the blog post, that Gearbox is listening to the community and is already working to address the issues that players have been having. This is always a welcome step in the right direction, especially after the recent hit of balance updates that have been addressing exploits before fixing glitches and quality of life concerns.
