Production on the highly-anticipated Borderlands movie is underway and several behind-the-scenes photos have been shared by the actors in the past few weeks to keep fans hooked. But, the latest shot of Cate Blanchett, shared by star Jamie Lee Curtis, is the image fans of the franchise seem to have been waiting for.

Curtis, who was roped in to play Dr. Patricia Tannis in the Borderlands movie, took to social media to post a sneak peek of co-star Blanchett's character Lilith from the film. She refers to Lilith, one of the most significant characters in the Borderlands universe, as the “legendary heroine, psycho blasting, vault hunting vixen with a bad attitude,” a caption that fans approved of wholeheartedly.

As the protagonist in the film, fans have been eagerly waiting for a glimpse at the live-action version of Lilith. The first look at her might not offer much, as the image is just a silhouette shot of Blanchett, but it was still enough to get fans excited. Though it doesn’t show what Blanchett's Lilith will look like entirely, the shot is enough to confirm that the look will be heavily inspired by the original design in the franchise. Blanchett's pose and hairstyle are a faithful representation of Lilith's appearance in the games, and even if Curtis hadn’t put a caption, fans would immediately recognize the character.

Curtis also shared the image on her Instagram account, but the caption on the social media platform is what has caught the attention of many fans. She has promised to share more behind-the-scenes images “maybe next week” of some of the other main characters in Borderlands, including Jack Black's Claptrap, Florian Munteanu's Krieg, Kevin Hart's Roland, Ariana Greenblatt's Tiny Tina, and her own character Tannis.

When the Borderlands movie was first confirmed, Blanchett was the first actor to be cast, considering Lilith is the leading character. Keeping the trend alive, she is also the first character fans are visually introduced to from the film. But, now fans are asking for more character sneak peeks to be released soon, especially one of the Blanchett and Curtis’ characters together. But, if Curtis does indeed stick to her word, fans won’t have to wait too long.

Naturally, fans are curious to see if the Borderlands film will follow the unfortunate trend of feature film video game adaptations falling short of fan expectations, or if it continues the run of successful entries in the genre such as Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog. Only time will tell, but this recent photo of Blanchett's Lilith certainly seems to be a positive sign for Borderlands.

The Borderlands movie is currently in production and does not have a release date.
