It's been a busy few weeks for Gearbox Software and its latest title Borderlands 3. Not only is the popular looter shooter in the fourth week of a five week special anniversary event, but the developer has also been very consistent in applying new patches almost on a weekly basis. Fans haven't always been thrilled with the changes due to character builds, weapons, and abilities changing more often than not, but these updates have also opened the door to new opportunities such as a completely new take on an infinite grenade build for the operative, Zane.

Traditionally seen as the weakest of the four Vault Hunters in Borderlands 3, this new build finally lets Zane shine. The discovery comes as a result of the most recent hot fix which not only changed the Salvation ability, but altered a few other important skills as well. Players have discovered that the Refreshment skill appears to be bugged in a similar way that Salvation was prior to this hot fix.

To utilize this build, Zane players will need to work with the Under Cover skill tree which contains his Barrier skill. Specifically, Distributed Denial, Calm, Cool, Collected, as well as Refreshment. Under Doubled Agent, worthwhile skills include Donnybrook, Pocket Full of Grenades, Synchronicity, and Borrowed Time.

Unlike other builds, this one doesn't have major requirements for gear. The most important pieces are the shield and grenade mod as the build revolves around the idea of doing damage with explosions similar to the old build that used the recently nerfed Porcelain Pipe Bomb. Big Boom Blaster, a shield mod that drops shield, grenade, or heavy ammo boosters which was recently updated to autopickup. What makes this mod really shine is that the skill Distributed Denial essentially doubles the effect dropping booster pickups constantly.

To finish off the build, a strong cryo elemental grenade such as the Recurring Hex is hugely beneficial as well as an RPG weapon like the Hive and the Cold Warrior class mod. With this build, players will be able to take on notoriously tough sections of the game like Slaughter Shaft and Mayhem 3.

It's unknown how long Gearbox Software will let this new build slide as the developer has been quicker than usual to nerf abilities, weapons, and gear that have proven to be a little too effective. The latest update saw massive changes to popular gear like Hex Grenades and the Flakker shotgun, hurting more than a few abilities that synergize well with these items. Gearbox recently confirmed that it was taking a break from drastic nerfs but it's likely that when the comment was made, the studio didn't foresee any new infinite grenade builds popping back up inside of Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
