Borderlands 3 developer Gearbox has been issuing hotfixes on a weekly basis since launch, which typically includes buffs and nerfs to the Vault Hunters and tweaks to the weapons. The Borderlands 3 October 17 hotfix does a lot when it comes to legendary weapons, with some weapons like the legendary Lyuda receiving a significant nerf, whereas others are getting buffs. The nerfs, however, are what have drawn the most attention from fans.

Many Borderlands 3 players have expressed their opinions on the various hotfixes by taking to the game's subreddit and posting memes. This isn't the first time this has happened, either, as fans have taken a similar approach in the past, mocking Maliwan with memes and the constant influx of buffs and nerfs to Vault Hunters like Fl4K the Beastmaster and Zane the Operative.

This latest set of memes seemingly directly tackles this idea that Borderlands 3 has been nerfed so much since launch, going so far at times to suggest the launch was just the "Betalands" and how much more this hotfix has seemingly tackled than other hotfixes. Here are a couple of the memes currently found on the Borderlands 3 subreddit.

It's worth adding that nerfing weapons isn't all this Borderlands 3 hotfix has done, with it also buffing several of the Vault Hunter's primary skills. Moze's Iron Bear, FL4K's pets, and Zane's Digi-Clone have all seen health increases, with the first two increasing by 50% and Zane's by 100%. The intended purpose of his buff is to make these skills "more viable" in the endgame, where each of these die quickly. However, fans aren't happy.

Most argue that a health increase for these isn't enough to survive in late endgame activities, especially when playing in Mayhem Mode 3. Damage buffs seem to be what many actually want, which is somewhat counter intuitive to the associated weapon nerfs. This will eventually be balanced out as Gearbox works on more balance tweaks, but as these memes point out, that doesn't seem to be the result of the October 17 patch.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
