Gearbox continues to leak Borderlands 3 details day to day as its marketing campaign for the upcoming looter shooter persists. The latest leak comes from a Borderlands 3 video advertisement playing on YouTube, which reportedly provides a first look at the game's User Interface. The advertisement, which seems to have disappeared off the internet, shows off Borderlands 3's latest feature update in its impressive new 3D minimap.

As noted by Borderlands enthusiast and Youtuber SupMatto, the Borderlands 3 advertisement is unfortunately impossible to find for the moment. To describe what was shown, the video features just a brief gameplay scene in which the game's UI is fully visible. Other advertisement and trailer for Borderlands 3 have all otherwise had the UI stripped from all gameplay.

The short gameplay clip features player characters Amara and Moze in split-screen. In the gameplay, Borderlands fans get their first glimpse of UI elements including how health and shields are displayed on the left side of the screen, experience and in Amara's case passive Kill Skills at the center of the screen, and ammo, grenades, and ultimate abilities on the right of the screen.

In the upper righthand corner of each characters display is the updated version of Borderlands 3's minimap. Borderlands fans will recall that while the original game only had a compass rather than a minimap, the sequel featured a traditional 2D minimap. Borderlands 3 will move a step forward and offer a 3D minimap to help convey the verticality of the game. Exactly how the minimap works, whether it's just an isometric camera or a dynamic camera moving based on location, is not yet evident.

Specific UI elements aside, it should be clear that Gearbox is aiming to provide a very clean and communicative UI for Borderlands 3. Health, minimap, and abilities are all concise while remaining readable, to ensure the UI doesn't take up any more visual space than necessary. Well, most of the UI follows that guideline, at least; not so much the bulky damage numbers.

Expect a much more robust and intentional look at Borderlands 3's gameplay, its UI included, when Gearbox shows the game off live on May 1.

Borderlands 3 releases September 13 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
