Gearbox's PAX East 2019 panel was riddled with technical difficulties, but that didn't curb any enthusiasm for the official announcement of Borderlands 3. The game was revealed in a teaser trailer that offered plenty of details about Borderlands 3 and what it has in store for fans, confirming many of the leaks in the process.

As seen in the Borderlands 3 trailer, the Calypso Twins will be the main villains in the new game. They will be the leaders of the Children of the Vault cult, which players will fight against across a variety of different worlds, offering more environmental variety than seen in past Borderlands games. Some of the areas Borderlands 3 players will get to visit include a swamp area, a large city with towering skyscrapers, and the typical desert locales that fans of the franchise should be plenty familiar with by now.

As previously stated, the Borderlands 3 trailer shown at PAX East 2019 seemingly confirmed many details that leaked about the game. One leak was posted on 4chan, and divulged a slew of information that was confirmed in the trailer, such as certain returning characters, and the abilities of the new Vault Hunters. For example, the leak that one of the Vault Hunters will have a Titanfall-style mech has turned out to be accurate.

Borderlands 3 players will have more than just a Titanfall-style mech at their disposal. When it comes to killing the hordes of baddies in Borderlands 3, players will be able to choose from over 1 billion guns, which is staggering, to say the least. However, considering the dizzying amount of weaponry featured in past Borderlands games, it's actually a believable number.

Borderlands 3 also teased "walking guns," but it's unclear if they come as a character ability or if they're just a new type of weapon in the game available to all classes. Regardless, fans should find out more in the months leading up to Borderlands 3's release date, whenever that may be.

Borderlands 3 is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
