Borderlands 3 is offering players a wide spread of DLC, including three drops before the end of 2019. The first is the on-going Bloody Harvest limited-time event, the second is the forthcoming Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite DLC, and the final is the campaign's first major story DLC. Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite has been covered pretty thoroughly, so it seems Gearbox is ready to talk story DLC, as it has released the first details on it.

Up front, the only bit of solid information is the reveal date. This Borderlands 3 story DLC will be officially revealed in a livestream on Wednesday, November 20, at 8 am PT, and it is heavily implied that this story DLC will feature Handsome Jack in some regard. The announcement post contains a short video encircling a statue of Handsome Jack riding Butt Stallion with Moxxi providing the voiceover of "Ready to bring down the house, sugar?"

What's more, the post is also accompanied by an image of Handsome Jack's head in a hologram, not unlike Rhy's initial encounters in Borderlands 3. This would seemingly suggest that stories covered in Tales from the Borderlands - That is, how Rhy dealt with the Handsome Jack AI during the events of the game - will somehow be coming into play. Furthermore, players are promised "handsome" new loot, but of course, it remains to be seen what this actually means.

After all, previous statements indicate that Borderlands 3's Handsome Jack is indeed dead, and the developers weren't keen to bring him back to keep beating the dead horse. However, that's not to say his story is over, and it'll be interesting to see what role he plays in this, even if it to some degree a deception.

The big question will be when this Borderlands 3 story DLC will release, which should hopefully be revealed alongside it. Given the forthcoming release of Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite and the end of Bloody Harvest in December, it does seem to be a safe bet that it'll happened sometime toward the end of the year, but until Gearbox confirms this information, that should be taken with a grain of salt.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in development.
