Shortly before the official May 1 gameplay reveal, it appears that Borderlands 3 is dealing with a couple of leaks. First up, some Borderlands 3 gameplay managed to leak online, which gives players a glimpse at the loot and some Maliwan weapons that feature two different elements each. Now, an extensive look at the skill trees for the new character Zane the Operative, has found its way online as well.

This appears to come from some type of test, perhaps for the gameplay event, that views the UI for Borderlands 3. For Zane, his three skill trees are Under Cover, Hitman, and Doubled Agent, with each including a unique action skill.

For the Under Cover skill tree, Zane unlocks the ability to deploy a barrier. Shooting an enemy through the barrier deals increased damage, and it can also be picked up, though doing so decreases the size and effectiveness of the barrier. The final ability in the skill tree is dubbed Distributed Denial and gives this barrier all of the benefits of Zane's shield mod, and all of the barrier's effects are shared with those near it.

The Hitman action skill deploys a SNTNL drone that flies around attacking enemies, but using the action skill again will have the drone attack whatever is in Zane's crosshairs. The capstone ability is Death Follows Close, which increases the effects and duration of all of the Borderlands 3 character class' kill skills, making this Hitman tree particularly deadly in the long run.

The final Doubled Agent skill tree gives Zane the ability to summon a Digi-Clone, which will remain in place but distract and shoot enemies from there. The best part of this is how activating the action skill again will see Zane swap places with his Digi-Clone, giving the Operative a certain amount of control in the battlefield. The Hitman's final ability is called Double Barrel and gives the Digi-Clone a copy of Zane's current weapon. Swapping with the Clone will also give Zane increased damage.

For more, official Borderlands 3 gameplay details will be made available by Gearbox beginning at 10 AM PDT on May 1.

Borderlands 3 launches September 13, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
