As is the semi-regular custom for Gearbox, the company recently released Golden Key SHiFT codes for Borderlands 3. The studio's director, Randy Pitchford doled out the codes on Twitter, announcing the Borderlands 3 SHiFT codes were valid for all who wanted to redeem them through the game or on the Shift website through August 19.

Though Borderlands 3 was released back in September of 2019, Gearbox has continued to support the game pretty regularly. The SHiFT codes and Golden Key codes have been released just about every week, if not more often in order to help players score some serious loot.

Pitchford announced that the new SHiFT code is going to unlock three Golden Keys for anyone who redeems them through the official website or in-game on the starship Sanctuary. Those who redeem the codes are guaranteed to unlock three Golden Keys in Borderlands 3. That means that those same players will be able to get access at top of the line weapons or perks that they would most certainly not be able to receive through in-game action.

While these Borderlands 3 SHiFT codes tend to unlock chests that are located on Sanctuary, it's hard to tell exactly what sort of loot is going to be on offer until the codes are used. There's no kind of hint as to what players are getting ahead of time. These codes are quite a bit like loot box systems, in that they can be purchased by those who are looking to boost their armory without hoping to get specific drops. Of course, Gearbox routinely gives away these codes totally free to ardent fans of the game.

On occasion, Pitchford will toss out several SHiFT codes at once as a special bonus, however, this time around he's doling out just the single code on his Twitter account. WSWJJ-W9HF9-W65F9-R3JJB-3XRXC will unlock the three Borderlands 3 Golden Keys and give players a chance to blow the competition away.

Getting these codes means that Borderlands 3 players won't have to hunt down the red chests in order to unlock the same kind of loot in-game. That means that players will be better able to spend their time blasting away at the wide variety of villains that are in the base game as well as the multiple pieces of DLC that have been released since the game was first launched. Because these SHiFT codes aren't released on a set rotating schedule, it's also possible this will be the last time someone can get them for a little while, at least.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
