Players of Borderlands 3 are currently up to their eyeballs in new content with the new Mayhem 2.0 update and the Revenge of the Cartels free event going alongside it. While players are trying their hardest to obtain gear to attempt the new Mayhem 10 difficulty, many others are interested in starting the Revenge of the Cartels event in order to obtain exclusive loot.

Firstly, in order to start the event, players must fast travel to Sanctuary III in order to speak to Maurice. He is better known for his involvement with previous events in Borderlands 3, and players will be returning to him once more.

Similarly to the Halloween event, players will get a repeatable quest from Maurice that will task players with killing Cartel Operatives in order to spawn Badass Cartel Thugs that must also be killed. Once killed, these enemies will reward the player with some coordinates that will eventually lead the player to a new location, the Villa Ultraviolet.

Players will want to do this content as it won't stick around forever and the location switches between three different gangs, leading to some nice gameplay variety. Players will not face the same gang twice in a row and each gang has its own unique boss attached to them which entices players to clear the Villa multiple times in order to earn some extra BL3 loot.

With the new Mayhem 2.0 mode that adds multiple new modifiers to the Mayhem difficulty, players should attempt to clear the Cartel event on Mayhem 6 and above if possible. The higher the Mayhem level is then the better the quality of the loot will drop as well as some exclusive legendary BL3 items that can only drop on Mayhem 6 and above.

Some of the best weapons in Borderlands 3 are locked to the higher Mayhem levels but with the proper amount of farming and the right build then obtaining the gear should be do-able. With so much content going on right now in Borderlands 3, now would be a great time for players to hop on and chase some of the most coveted and most powerful loot currently in the game.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
