Borderlands 3 Hotfix Makes Changes to Bloody Harvest Event, Anointed Enemies

Borderlands 3's Bloody Harvest kicked off exactly two weeks ago, and players have been busy taking on Captain Haunt and farming the seasonal event's new legendaries ever since. Now, Gearbox Software is looking to make several changes to the Borderlands 3 Bloody Harvest event, and these adjustments will be issued as a hotfix that is scheduled to release before 3pm PDT today, November 7.

In part, this Borderlands 3 hotfix is focused on Captain Haunt, and the boss's shields are being increased in order to "make the fight slightly more engaging for most players." Gearbox indicates that this change is an attempt to address fans "skipping entire phases" of the fight, and the developer has "dramatically increased" Captain Haunt's chance to drop legendaries to counterbalance his increased difficulty.

Furthermore, players will find that Loot Ghosts also have an increased chance to drop the Borderlands 3 Bloody Harvest legendaries following the hotfix, which will make it even easier for fans to obtain the Fearmonger shotgun and Ghast Call grenade. It is also indicated that Loot Ghosts will drop more loot in general, and Gearbox has additionally increased the Hecktoplasm drop rate from Ghosts, Badass Ghosts, and Loot Ghosts.

There are also some changes to the drop rates of Terror anointed parts in today's BL3 update. Specifically, regular enemies will drop Terror anointed parts less frequently after the patch, which is something that fans have been requesting for some time now, and Bloody Harvest enemies will drop them more frequently.

Finally, there are a number of bug fixes included in the Borderlands 3 November 7 hotfix, and one in particular is certain to be met with applause from many Zane players: "Anointed enemies are no longer immune to Cryo damage." While the patch will not allow players to freeze anointed enemies with Cryo, they can be slowed, and the removal of Cryo immunity may encourage some players to dust off their Zanes and get back to farming.

BL3's Bloody Harvest is scheduled to end on December 5, and with the drop rate increases coming in today's hotfix, it should be possible for many players to walk away from the event with most of the gear that they are interested in. That said, the Borderlands 3 Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite event will begin on November 21, and fans may wish to wrap up Bloody Harvest before that new content arrives.

Bloody Harvest Adjustments

Captain Haunt is a fun boss fight with multiple phases, but players were often skipping entire phases because Captain Haunt's shields were so low. We increased his shields to make the fight slightly more engaging for most players and dramatically increased the loot drop chance, so players are compensated nicely for defeating Captain Haunt.

Terror Anointments

Following what we’ve seen and heard from the Community and the fading Halloween season, you’re going to start seeing less Terror anointed parts dropping from regular enemies. Bloody Harvest enemies (including Ghosts!) will be picking up the slack, so if you are hunting to make a spooky build you know where to look!

Explosions created by enemy Badass' weapons have a much quicker explosion effect to reduce screen clutter

We found that Badass enemies with heavy weapons were creating too many explosion effects that lingered on the screen, hindering the player's view at times. We are going to make a larger change to their weapons in the patch but wanted to shorten the explosion particle effect to dramatically lower screen clutter.
