Borderlands 3 will be getting new content via a second season pass, though the upcoming DLC for the game will not focus on story expansions. Instead, the first of two packs will provide a new game mode and additional skill trees, one of which has been revealed for the mech-using Moze.

The skill trees were announced for Borderlands 3 back in September, with each vault hunter set to receive a new selection of skills within their new trees. A new action skill will be added with each tree as well, such as Fl4k getting a loader bot pet. The skill trees will arrive on November 10, with Moze the Gunner seeing some of the most unique changes to her kit as part of the update.

As with the new Fl4k and Amara skill trees, the first look into Moze’s abilities comes via GameSpot. Perhaps the biggest change is discussed right away, as Moze’s new action skill “Iron Cub” functions differently from her massive mech. The Iron Cub is too small to get inside and a bit less durable than Iron Bear, instead getting its power from being “more mobile” and having the ability to “target enemies on their own.” The mini-mech guns down enemies with whatever weapons are equipped to Iron Bear as well.

The speedy Iron Cub will be enhanced by Moze’s powerful skills, many of which have been a long time coming for the tanky soldier. One of the new additions is called “Fuel For The Fire” that instantly restores the armor of Iron Cub whenever a status effect is applied to enemies. The “Baby Nukes” skill lives up to its intimidating title by making Iron Cub create a nuclear explosion that deals “massive radiation damage” whenever it is defeated. The “Efficiency Engine” skill grants increased gun damage for Moze whenever Iron Cub is deployed, with the bonus increasing the longer it survives.

bl3 july 9 update

The last skill highlighted in the preview for Moze’s new “Bear Mother” tree sounds particularly useful, as it grants Iron Cub an extra weapon. Per the skill description, “Iron Bear spawns with an incendiary assault rifle,” something that will make the tiny mech deadly against fleshy enemies when their shields are down. These skills should prove useful in Borderlands 3’s new Arms Race game mode, and Moze having new ways to cause elemental damage should make for some interesting builds.

Borderlands 3 fans will be able to experience this content on next-gen consoles as well. With PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Borderlands 3 arriving on the day of each console’s release, Moze fans looking to try out Iron Cub can do so on the new systems as soon as they arrive.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades coming as the consoles launch.
