Originally introduced in the first Borderlands expansion pack, Mad Moxxi has been a staple of the franchise ever since. Since Borderlands 2, Moxxi has been in charge of various bars on Pandora and the same rings true in the latest game, Borderlands 3. In addition to being a quest giver, players can also acquire unique weapons in Borderlands 3 from her like the The Good Touch and Bad Touch by donating a certain amount into her tip jar. The mechanic returns in the latest game, though the rewards have improved.

Before Mad Moxxi and her bar can be accessed, players need to advance the Borderlands 3 campaign story enough to where the flying hub city Sanctuary 3 is available. Her bar can be found through the left door, down a hallway where large neon letters spell out Moxxxi's. Inside, players will find all sort of interactables including slot machines. However, for this activity, head to the bar to find a small tipping jar that lets players tip $100 or $1000 at a time.

As expected, at certain thresh holds, Moxxi will let the player know she has a reward for them and a notification on the screen will indicate that she has sent the player mail. The price totals seem to vary, but as Glitching Queen mentions, she found that Moxxi would offer a reward at $15,000 then it would take another $30,000 and sometimes $40,000. However, the investment seems to be well worth it as the only two guns that Moxxi offers can continue to be earned with different elemental effects like radiation, feature unique prefixes, and weapon levels. Players can continually spend money to keep getting new versions of both guns.

The first gun is called The Crit and longtime players may remember it as a reward from Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragonkeep. It's an epic level weapon that has shock damage and most of the stats from Borderlands 2. However, it also has a 12% change to drop out of the players hand when it is reloaded.

The other weapon type is an assault rifle called The Hail, a weapon last seen in Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel. The interesting aspect of this weapon is that its projectiles fire in an arc instead of a typical straight line. Players can also swap between the gun being fully automatic or using a three round burst instead.

As players have discovered, Mad Moxxi is also involved in one of the more interesting side missions in the game. Battle Royale style modes are all the rage these days and while Borderlands 3 doesn't actually have a dedicated mode, players can take part in a unique Easter egg filled side mission. Essentially, players are asked by Moxxi to enter a competition at Lectra City, where players face off in a free for all against other NPC characters, ultimately leading to an encounter with the controversial boss character, Killavolt.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
