Over 1 Million People Have Searched for Borderlands 3 in the Strangest Place

Borderlands 3 players have been burning the midnight oil looking for builds, guides, and more to experience the game to the fullest, but there's one location on the internet that stands out. Truthfully, it shouldn't be surprising given the popularity of other games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Overwatch in similar situations, but if nothing else, the sheer volume sticks out. As of this writing, over 1 million have searched for Borderlands 3 on an adult website in the past 5 days.

Specifically, Pornhub has revealed that these massive numbers have increased average searches by 12,905%, which is five times the popularity of Fortnite and three times that of Overwatch. In other words, Borderlands 3 has become the most searched-for game and a top trending term on the adult website. Given that this massive rise to prominence has only taken 5 days, that's a massive upsurge in an incredibly limited time frame for the looter shooter franchise.

Moreover, the site would go on to share several statistics associated with the search term. It released an infographic showcasing the most popular exact search terms which include "Borderlands 3" and "Borderlands Moxxi," among others (as seen below). The adult site also took it further, looking into the exact demographics of those searching these terms.

Men, for example, are 84% more likely to search for Borderlands 3-related content than women, and visitors aged 18-24 were 119% more likely than other age groups. Xbox users were also 78% more likely to search for this term than PlayStation, and via mobile devices, Androids were 12% more likely than Apple iOS-based devices. The same users were also more likely to search for "Belle Delphine," "anime," "cartoon," "cosplay," as well as the aforementioned video games when compared to other users.

It's clear that Borderlands 3 is making waves in its own community, the gaming community, and the greater Internet community, but it is far from a perfect game. That said, the number of technical issues experienced by a majority of gamers haven't seemed to hampered the fun of the looter shooter threequel, as noted in our Borderlands 3 review.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
