Earlier this month, Gearbox Software kicked off the Borderlands Anniversary Celebration, which is bringing five weeks worth of events to the developer's new looter shooter, Borderlands 3. Currently, players are digging into the third of these events, Show Me the Eridium, and they will continue to do so for several more days. However, Gearbox has recently offered some information on next week's event, Mayhem on Twitch, and it is one that many fans will not want to miss.

During a live stream that occurred on Twitch on October 17, Elisa Melendez sat down with Combat Designer Grant Kao and Lead Level Designer Graeme Timmins to talk all things Borderlands 3. In this conversation, the three touched on things like the recent update that nerfed some of BL3's best legendary weapons, and they also took a moment to address week four of the Borderlands Anniversary Celebration. Specifically, it was stated that players can look forward to increased drop rates on Anointed gear during the event.

Borderlands 3 Anointed gear is loot that gives Vault Hunters special bonuses, and Anointed perks can be found on both weapons and shields. These bonuses can be class specific, improving certain action skills and abilities, and Anointed gear can be purchased with Eridium from Crazy Earl and can be dropped by enemies in Borderlands 3's endgame content.

Indeed, obtaining one of the game's best legendary weapons with an Anointed perk can have a dramatic impact on the power level of a Borderlands 3 Vault Hunter, and thus many players are certain to be looking to add these elusive pieces of gear to their loadouts. Fortunately, it seems that doing exactly that will be easier during the forthcoming Borderlands 3 Mayhem on Twitch event, which will run from October 22 to 28.

Furthermore, there is likely to be an additional, Twitch-related component to this event, and fans can expect more details on Mayhem on Twitch at the beginning of next week. In the interim, players can occupy themselves by testing all of the changes that were made in the aforementioned Borderlands 3 update and dreaming of all of the Anointed gear that they wish to earn once the event begins.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
